Progress update.
« on: 26.09. 2013 14:59 »
Hi all,

Long time since I've been on but I thought I'd give an update as to how my Super Rocket renovation is going.

We'll so far I've had the bores away for new liners and pistons.
Head going for new seats & valves.
New front & back wheels. Tried to get the old ones back good but they were past it. Opted for stainless rims & spokes as I don't have too much time to spend on them.
Just sorting out the wiring loom at the moment.
Bodywork being reprinted after a bit of work and I'm getting a picture of my dad airbrushed into the oil tank as a bit of a tribute.
Hopefully get some pictures posted in a few weeks.
Cheers,
Shaun

That's a nice touch Shaun

Don't forget when wiring separate earth's run from front and rear lights is good

Your are coming upto the best part now, final assembly, really rewarding, suggest you consider addition of 2 or 3 fuses, easy fitted close to the battery.

Pardon my ignorance Bill.
Is this any different with a positive earth?
Do you mean just the earthing side of each light to framework?
(Electrics aren't my favourite things)

Cheers,

Got the fuses. Already to go with that. Just waiting for mudguards and front nacelle from paint before I put loom back in.

G'day Shaun.
I think Bill means to run earth wires instead of relying on the frame/guards to do the job, the paint will isolate it.
Most modern stuff is negative earth, meaning the negative pole of the battery is attached to the frame and or earth wires. Our A's are positive earth.

As Muskrat says Shaun run a wire as an earth circuit rather than using the frame, mudguard , front steering yoke with all the nuts.bolts and grease that the six volts has to fight it;s way through.
positive earth or negative makes no odds
