Can anyone tell me the length of the STANDARD plunger fork springs please...   *????*

They're the same as for swingarm models.
280 mm for solo use.
300 mm for sidecar use

Thanks morris, that explains a lot...   mine are 260mm..
I should have taken measurements B4 I decided to assemble the forks on the 51.
When it came to fitment to the tripple tree the fork tubes could be pushed home by hand...   
 *pull hair out* BUGGA says me so I pull them apart again to see whats going on...   *conf2*
I decided to use the original tubes & bushes because they were in good condition, just replacing the seals.
Compared with another set I have the PLUNGER tubes have only 1 hole each side & smaller sliding bush..   
Next question...   can I just replace the bushes with new larger ones onto the tubes with one hole?

I would fit the larger bushes.
I have a set of old bushes lying around, but I'm not at home for the moment, so can't give dimensions, but they definitely are way longer than the short ones on your picture.
Now stop messing around in the shed and put yourself in front of the telly, cause you ozzies are up on winning the eurovision song contest. *beer*

Wozza,  the upper bushes I have are all 2 1/8" long, which corresponds to 54mm
