OK members, here's your chance to vote on the Forum's tee shirt design. One vote per member.
The Timing cover, could be black print on white shirt or gold print on black shirt.
The Engine cutout, as is on white shirt or gold print on black shirt.
-
I'm voting for the timing cover, while respecting all who vote otherwise.
-
I'm for the engine in the circle , and similar sentiments to Richards
-
The cutaway is my favorit.
-
I like the cutaway *eek*
-
Timing is everything; the cover for me.
-
As long as the label is at the back and inside, I'm happy.
Having a terrible time with underwear lately. For most of my life the info label was always at back inside. Just to be tricky and different, clothing manufacturers are now sometimes putting the label at front, sometimes inside, sometimes outside.
This can cause great distress in some cases, especially when finding your underwear is on backwards after working down thru four layers of Motorcycle outergear with the pump already primed !!
Glen
-
the pump already primed !!
never mind the pump it's the relief valve that's the worry *sad2*
-
I like both with a slight preference for the cutaway in circle design so the latter has my vote
-
I would rather have the BSA t-shirt that ASDA are selling at £8. *beer*
-
*????* I dont think the ASDA are selling FORUM T shirts? *eek*
Cut away 4 me *wink2*
-
Timing Cover.
-
Engine cut away for me then.

Erling, is there a way to broadcast a message to all members?
-
I would vote but I dont have a preference (third option). They both look good and I would have a tee shirt, patch, sticker and a tax disk replacement with which very design we end up with.
ps the asda tee shirts are great
-
I would vote but I dont have a preference (third option).
Angus,
In this case, I would say, flip a coin and vote accordingly.

Timing for me too.
Paul

sorry to upset anyone a lot of time and effort has gone into this but the timing cover logo looks to me like a pirate map to find a pile of guns *conf*

I think it looks a bit like a race track ;)
-
To me, it looks like a BSA A7 or A10 timing cover. Regardless, I think it doesn't matter at this point what it looks like. People can vote for what they like.
Richard L.
-
I prefer the engine cutout.
-
Erling, is there a way to broadcast a message to all members?
Yes, can make a 'newsletter' that goes to every member email. Will do it in a little while.
-
Only just over two weeks to go for voting. Only 22 votes cast leads me to think it's all been a great waste of time.
*dunno*
-
Well, at least Greybeard and I actually have shirts.
Richard L.
-
My vote is for the timing cover
-
Tough choice as I like them both. Voted for the cutaway but will happily wear either
-
Surely a new poll is needed that includes Joolstachos work.
I guess most forum members only read the posts that concern their particular issue. I read most messages even if they don't apply to my machine. I would probably skip things like fitting a modern clutch though!
A forum news letter from Erling might be the way forward.
-
Newsletter is in the foundry, coming soon

skip things like fitting a modern clutch the one off 1065 project does nothing for me at all but a modern clutch is an out of sight improvment
-
i read every unread post since last visit, on the basis that all knowledge is good, sometimes put my foot on my mouth (or should do) by asking the obvious, but such a forgiving bunch here I usually get dropped gently.
Tshirt - the numbers look like might be small (the newsletter might bring forth more) but I'm thinking do we have to settle on one, just a thought maybe a range of three but all having something Jools could add to make them obviously all of a kin
-
...I'm thinking do we have to settle on one, just a thought maybe a range of three...
My opinion again: If the forum has a distinctive logo the design will follow the forum 'brand'. I'm not sure Erling is willing to change the forum Home page.
-
I'll go with timing cover as on the photo.
Cheers, Otto in DK
-
Neat idea and so are both the designs - but the cutaway for me.
Look forward to info on ordering, sizing, paying & shipping when decision made.
-
One of each thanks... but if not the cutaway as a preference between the two.
-
Cutaway, is pretty nice!
-
All ready voted but just in case it was missed, I'll go with the cutaway.
-
Thanks for the email, I've voted. In the case of a draw, you could have one on the front and the other on the back! The engine cutaway might be useful when dealing with roadside repairs, at least you'd have a useful oily rag *lol*
-
I like the cutout on a white shirt, that way you will not be tempted to wipe your hands on it.
Victor
-
I think they're both great but if you're only going to print one, it would be the timing cover for me. That makes the A10s and 7s look unique. If sales go good for whichever is chosen, then have a second run with the other design.
-
pffft!..timing cover from the modern versions...hmmm.
cotterpinkid and I agree, front and back!
Looks good, either one, I voted for the race track timing cover...altho too modern for me, lol.
I want tighter turns.
-
I'm with the cutaway. *smile*
-
I've gone for the cut out, but would buy gold on black as it will hide the (oil/beer/wine/pizza/kebab) stains better! *smile*
-
I thought I'd already voted on this, but just got another email about it. Is it set up to only allow one vote per member? Wouldn't be fair for me to vote twice.
-
Timing Cover.

Hello, newsletter courtesy Muskrat, went to all registered emails. And only one vote possible.
-
Definitely the cutaway for me.
Cheers. Gerry
-
I'm voting for the timing cover
-
neither one for me. how about :bsa[insignia] underneath [motorcycles] and under that [a7-a10] all in gold lettering
-
I can use both, voted cutaway.
-
The timing cover for me,
It instantly says A10 / A7 from a long way away
The other to be honest, although I like the cutaway in essence, it looks like a single at first glance and only an A10/7 after scruitiny.
Regards,
Julian.
-
Hi, the cut away has the edge for me .
Cheers
RR
-
Timing cover is my favourite, very distinctive, and not complicated.
-
I'm voting Timing cover, it is the most distinctive feature of the A10/A7 engine.
Thanks for all the work Musky
Clive
-
Cutaway is my vote - but I like them both. Well done to the guys who put this together.
-
I vote for the Timing cover, a classic shape
-
Cut away get's my vote.
Cheers.
-
Engine version but gold on black please if that is the only colour option.
-
Either one, but maybe I’ll take the Timing Cover, depending on colours.
-
I like the cut away
Pete
-
Engine cut out :)
-
Thanks to the blokes who have worked on this. You have left us all with a tough choice. I finally went for the cutout. To me its more representative of a site that holds so much fantastic detail. I'll be ordering a black n gold of it.
-
The cutaway is nice, but I shy away from white T-shirts. I still have favorite special, darker colored T's from the early 80's, but white always have an early death.

I often wonder if other forum members are at an event I'm attending: I think it would be good if we had some tee-shirts printed up with BSA A7-A10 Forum printed on the front.

Folks. Please remember to actually place your vote in the poll at the top of this topic and not just make a verbal vote, as in "I like this" or "I like that."
Richard L.
-
neither one for me. how about :bsa[insignia] underneath [motorcycles] and under that [a7-a10] all in gold lettering
Pedro,
Good to here from you. Hope the ticker is running well. Right now the exercise is limited to the two designs. It may happen that the winning design becomes the basis for some fine tuning, but, I think part of the idea is to put something together soon enough that most of us are still alive to wear them.
Richard L.
-
I vote for timing cover, dark t-shirt, gold letters: it really stands out as A7/A10. I have a Goldie cutaway T-shirt, (Would be better if I had the real thing!) and even an office bearer from the BSA club got the model wrong! Cheers to all, Gav.

Is the cutOUT vote representative of an OUT vote in that other (not as interesting) campaign that's going on and on in the UK at the moment?

I suppose this is a bit of humor and angst, but not reaaly sure which is intended more or what, exactly, is meant.
Richard L.

Referring to the vote to get out of the EU. Cutaway might have been a better name for the design.

Engine cutout for me. Gold on Black T-shirt.
-
engine cut-out thanks
-
engine cut-out and thanks for the time spent by one and all on the subject and grey beard for the topic

Both fine designs, but I'd go for the detailed cutaway drawing on the grounds that the timing case shape might be familiar to Beezer owners, but would look like the outline of a small Greek Island to the uninitiated, who might try to book a package holiday on BsaA10A5kilos.
Having said that, love the black and gold - could the cutaway be done in that format, or would the detail be lost?
-
Either design for me, maybe with a strapline of "Fed up with the predictability of life, buy an A7/A10 and moan about it here!"

Sorry for the delay in responding been up to my eyeballs plotting 2017 National Rally runs.
I for one only frequent the technical pages so If Musky did not send the email I would not have known the poll was happening and Yes I am about to vote.
My thoughts are thus ,the timing A series timing cover has been done to death must have a dozen or more rally badges themed on it.
So I would have to go for the sectioned engine .
Now just to be cantankerous I really don't go much on the text in the annulus,
Again looks like a rally badge.
Just a thought , ditch the carb which will leave a nice spade for A7 to be nestled to the left and A10 nestled to the right.
Then the forum URL along underneath in bolder type along a strait line,
All text in a different colour to the line drawing.
So red or yellow text and gold line drawing on a dark coloured shit would look stunning.
However are we just looking at a T-shirt so we can find each other or is the point of the exercise to create a brand logo ?
If it is the latter then a bit of a think will be needed as the sectioned engine will not reproduce in a small enough size to be used as a logo,
Second who are they going to be produced ?
Direct to garment printing would be a lot cheaper for a small run with more than 1 colour but it does not do parallel lines particularly well.
-
"So red or yellow text and gold line drawing on a dark coloured shit would look stunning."
Ummmm... lets hope the spelling on the final product is up to it. I can't get off the floor laughn.
Sorry Trev.
-
Both are nice, I prefer the cut away engine in the circle.
Glenn T.
-
I'm abstaining from a vote, for reasons partly outlined elsewhere (mainly just don't have a need for a extra shirt).
If I did though, for the record I'm having trouble deciding if I best prefer the Greek Island Treasure Map, the Racetrack, or the Timing Cover outline *conf* *smile*
All of which would look best in Gold on a Maroon shirt *smile*
-
I'm abstaining from a vote, for reasons partly outlined elsewhere (mainly just don't have a need for a extra shirt).
Voting doesn't imply you will receive a tee-shirt. Please vote.

My vote is for the engine cutout.
-
G'day All.
Well it looks like a resounding win for the Engine Cutout by RichardL (outer circles & text) & Greybeard (inner cut out picture). *yeah* Thanks to the 114 who voted.
Now the hard part. Printing and logistics, numbers and sizes, different colour for black Tee's.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
-
Good to see all the contributions. If the Timing Cover is used, could it get confused with the Kawasaki W2 650SS? *whistle*
Another colour as well as Black if possible? Well done all.

I think gold print on a black shirt would be nice. Or maybe a grey shirt with red print (kind of like Rocket Goldie paint and pinstripe colors)?

-
That's it Richard. Do you know how to convert the engine cutout to gold?
Cheers
-
I'm all for gold on black, bit selfish as I have a Gold "Golden flash". but will be happy with whatever is easiest.
-
Well it will depend upon how they are printed.
The cheapest will be screen printing in 1 colour, gold for instance.
The down side is they will have to be done all in one hit so some one will have to fork out a lot of money up front.
However screen printing in two colours requires two screens so doubles the printing price for small runs.
OTOH direct to fabric printing can be done in any colour that your colour laser printer can print and Gold is not one of them.
So the colour would have to be different.
However most print on fabric mobs will allow 4 colours for the same price as 1 colour.
Dye sublimation is very cost effective as you post out the transfer and the recipiant irons it onto their own shirt.
This is what most of those t-shirt booths use or used to use prior to direct print to fabric.
Again you are limited the the Gammut of a laser printer.
Die sub needs a shirt that is at least 30 % synthetic fabric
Direct to fabric requires a 50% cotton ( or hemp ) fabric
Screen print works best on coton but now days they can do 100% synthetic

I haven't checked out pricing for bulk screening in the U.S, but, as mentioned, direct-to-fabric for a lot of 100 is $8.08/ea.
Trevor is right about printing in gold. Custom Ink provided a "closest match" when I sent in the attached design to see the sample. More yellow than gold, perhaps.

Just found an old and much used t-shirt - got it from lowbrow costums in US Of A - cutout engine on the back and BSA logo on front

Opened my eyes about custom printing.

Any news on these tees?
I want !
-
I'm not in a position to get the tee shirts produced. Anyone got enthusiasm to get this sorted out?
-
Spoke to my nephew on Sunday (has a business T printing) he's willing to produce a couple of shirts to send to moderators, with suggestions about selling and distribution, these demos would be done by hand so no costs involved there, he spoke of sending a demo to our Two ? moderators for free for them to have a look see and would talk to them regarding further steps. but no obligation incurred at this stage.
They do a fair bit if bike stuff, also they have a website I can put on( will have to get it from him as I've lost it it seems)
He also suggested if we cant choose one of the designs they could do both.
I would need to supply him with the designs first of course
Do you want me to contact him with the moderators names and address's ( PM me those)
-
Sounds good. Does he understand that the mods are in different continents? Also a couple of colour schemes for each design are required; eg. Gold on black, red and black on white, etc.
-
happy to hear some ones moving this forward ,,,personalty i would pay for a few examples and give my opinion
-

Different continents - yes postage not a problem
I've emailed him for his URL that I'll put up for interest
happy to hear some ones moving this forward ,,,personalty i would pay for a few examples and give my opinion
He seemed happy to send them free Still need mods address's, unless they've already posted them (haven't checked my email yet, electric switched off over night for Lightening strikes), better he speaks to mods direct, less my fuddled mind is in between the better
I know Muskrat is one, are you a mod too Polly
-
no im just someone that likes tee shirts
-
OOPS sorry GB, please regard you recent promotion as non permanent *smiley4*
Can only find Musky as MOD at the moment, sure there are two at least if not more - Richard perhaps, any way as usual time zones come to play so they may be sleeping, will wait for replies
-
One adminstrator, "Admin" (aka, "A10GF") and one moderator, "Muskrat". I'm just someone who talks too much.
Richard L.
-
Ah thanks Richard - got it
Keep talking too much - we like your voice
-
Hello all, am leaving it to the 'ringleaders' to sort out the practical and take any decisions. I'll make a start-up contribution, & suggesting setting up a dedicated paypal account for payments and orders.
Keep up the great work.
Thanks
e.
-
OK e
I'll wait until Musky wakes up for his thoughts
-
All,
FYI, I have the graphics with the ring and the engine in gold. The problem, for now, it that I haven't gotten the gold of the engine to match the ring. I should be able to figure that out with a bit of time invested. (It's a matter of the ring generated in ACAD and the engine coming in as a JPG). As has been previously noted, the gold will be somewhat more dark yellow with ink-jet printing. Personally, I would prefer that on cotton (and cheap) over dye-sublimation on polyester, or plasticized screening. We have been over all that and my personal opinion here is not the end-all.
I suppose it would be good to know what process is used by Bill's nephew.
Richard L.
-
G'day all.
Richard, I'm with you on print on cotton.
Bill, what method does he use? No need to send me a sample. If you and Greybeard are happy with the quality.
Cheers
-
Richard - Muskrat
Thanks for replies
not sure GB wanted one, but if he reads this and would like to take your place I'm sure that's no problem.
will speak to Paul tomorrow
meantime here's their URL although bear in mind all of the home page does not appear on PC'c as was designed and works fine on mobile phones (possible fine on tablets too)
e - dont think any startup is needed but the PayPal would be good
-
Bill,
No URL.
Richard L.
-
Any idea when the Tee shirts will be available? Haven't seen anything on how to go about getting one. Still in the planning stage?
-
RichardL - no url
Paul phones last night, the home page is fine on mobile phones and their shop PC monitor but not on my PC or Paul's PC monitors, it seems to be related to the resolution of the monitor ( mine is not quite as landscape as newer ones, I think mine is full HD)
anyway here is the url just bear in mind the home page might appear a bit shrunk)
http://recklesspromotions.uk/ (http://recklesspromotions.uk/)
jachenbach - Any idea when the Tee shirts will be available? Haven't seen anything on how to go about getting one. Still in the planning stage?
I'm waiting to get the two designs and address's of the two people who will receive DEMO shirts for their comments upon, if favourable then we can proceed, to order, this will require as you can imagine names delivery address size............................,
The demo shirts will be done by hand, so no set up costs and will be free to the two individuals, production shirts will be better.
it will be better and cheaper to have one large order (obviously) once done the screens are saved and can be used again should we require future lots
Reckless Promotions have a distribution link so possible they would do the posting.(sure Paul said this but will double check)
Costs - Paul has said he will put up some prices but would be unfair to do that at this time , lets get the two demo shirts out and see.
GB and Muskrat could you sort out between you who wants to be the second recipient?
-
GB and Muskrat could you sort out between you who wants to be the second recipient?
I already have my own two prototype shirts. I think it would be preferable to let someone else put their hand up. RichardL should be the chap to upload definitive designs; he already did most of the work.
I guess shirts will be white or black, each with appropriate coloured design's.
-
Im relativity new to the forum but am willing to give an opinion
-
OK polly was first to put his hand up so he can have mine.
Polly, PM Bill with your address and size.
Cheers
-
PM Bill with your address and size.
OK got that - so if you could also include email address (Richard and Polly) then when you get the shirts if there are any suggestions you can mail direct to Paul. ( the more direct the less possibility of crossed wires)
Richard - Paul says they can jiggle about with the design so not to go to too much trouble
-
Here is the gold-on-black version that would be used for ink-jet printing, as in Custom Ink in the USA. I assume that screening would need a black and white version for one-color. I can send the JPG(s?) direct to Paul rather than picking image off of the forum, which has been reduced to our acceptable posting resolution.
Richard L

P.S.
Apologies for the apparent trivialness of this in light of the ongoing events in Munich. I am writing while following those events, with sadness for the victims.

^^^ seems one can't stop all evil. But we may compensate somehow doing as much positive\good\creative as possible.
The tshirt design is great. Thanks for all the good work put into this.
-
Richard I think I replied to your PM with a PM - let me know if you got it (Firefox playing up - must dump it but I just do like colour tabs and tabs just above the page - yes fussy old codger))
-
I sent my details Bill .
Hopefully you got that
-
update for Richard and all to decide which gold you prefer. and an indication of how it looks sizewise
-
The brighter gold looks best to me. Is that what the model is wearing?
-
I think the "model" must be Paul, Bill's nephew. It seems to me he is wearing the more subdued gold and it looks better in that shot than in the close-up. If that's the subdued, it seems more gold than yellow, and I think gold is what we were looking for. We need to ask Paul to be sure. Two other points: there is a bit of a glitch in the screen at the "BSA" and I think it could be a bit bigger, maybe an inch, or a bit more.
Richard L.
P.S. I'll email this message to Paul.
-
Yes Paul dropped a couple of prints along for me to put up so you can see the work in progress, (and kindly left me the one print that was on a Tee *smile* , the other is just on a cloth sample - that might just find it's way onto a wall near an A)
Paul (pictured is wearing the Gold, the other is more yellow Camera alters it a bit.
These are far from the finished, some very small misses where he joined screens and the cloth is not what it will be in final version.
He also needed Richard and Polly's details for mailing and size, I haven't got your size Paul.
next step is for Richard and Polly to give there opinion/suggestions after they have received their samples
All the best - Bill
-
It's great to see this moving forward
-
Gents,
Paul is quite quick with his responses. Here is what he wrote:
Hi Richard,
yes that's not the final screen as you say there is a glitch in the BSA and also I small hair line in the circle, these images where just put on screens to determine the best mesh count if screen to use for the gold ink as it is a very thick ink, just thought I'd take the opportunity to run the different colours through that screen as I wouldn't want to do it on the final screen,
The one I'm wearing is the more subdued and matallic gold one.
I must admit I like the gold, it's more stylish and retro looking,
Size is no problem to change for final screen, I tried it at 30cm and thought it was too big so made it smaller, maybe something in the middle? See what the masses think!
Thanks
Paul
So far, I like the gold, as well, but I'm hoping the thickness of the ink does not impact resolution.
Richard L
-
I agree, the gold is best, the size on Paul's is right as well.
Good things come to those that wait.
Cheers
-
I took the liberty to work with Paul on the size and we both agreed that 3cm larger in diameter would be better. He's wearing a medium and the image does seem a bit small to me, so it might look really small on Lg an XL.
Richard L.
-
Good work everybody *smile*
-
Love the subdued gold one, can't wait to be able to buy one, cheers Gavinoz
-
Just thought that as Paul also left a white one (Nan's bagged it) I'd pop it up as well for those who prefer white
If your thinking the chairs covered cause we're decorating it's not, it due to avoiding paw marks from the little fella that shares the chair with me while watching pheasants and partridge out the window.
-
Love the light gold on white
-
Yes the gold works on white as well.
Wouldn't stay white on me for long! My shirt is also my hand towel!!
Cheers
-
The design seems to work on both color tee shirts .
I will test by wearing /washing a few times and give an honest review.

both looking very good .Very crisp lines and not proud and bulky printing like cheaper items ..un tested but first impressions are that they look very good and the tee shirt quality is good.
More review to follow

hi guys, Polly I like the red on white shirt well done, cheers
-
What a fantastic effort guys, Keep me posted on when I can send my money. I might frame one up for the man cave
-
*eek* are they available yet? *conf2* *woo*
-
Might have to get an idea as to how many for down here to save on postage. I could distribute from here.
I'd be looking at 4 in large black for myself.
Cheers
-
2 XL in Black 4 me please.. *thanks*

I saw Paul yesterday, Polly has his demo's as evident his post, Richards are on their way.
Paul looks in here now and then so once Richard has his and comments, we can talk about buying and distribution, Reckless could handle this as well if I picked up Paul correctly but don't quote me on that until I see him again

Well to follow up on my review.
Having subjected the white tee shirt to many machine washes ...It dont seem to degrade ..colours are just as vivid ...tee shirt holds up good ...All thumbs up here ..
Lets wait and see if Richard concurs .

Hi all,
I've been quiet for a couple of days just spent in the hospital for a bladder issue. I will spare you the details other than to say that it was not serious, just real effing uncomfortable.
Regarding the shirts, everything I've seen in the photos and heard from Polly makes me believe we should get the ordering and distribution functions started right away. It would take a serious flaw in the design or workmanship for me to somehow suggest we needed wait with regard to taking orders. I don't expect that. In any case, my sample should be here any day now and there would be ample time for any comments from me to be considered before production actually began.

Hi folks - at last here's the link to purchase your Tshirt
Paul and Mark have been busy and designed a web page where you can order and pay for your shirts.
Price has been arrived at UK£15 and that includes a donation of 50p for the forum (it's use to be decided by members, could be towards the running of the Forum or whatever).
Postage price is on top, the price to the uk is £1.99 + £1 per additional item, Europe is £3.99 + £1 per additional item, USA and Australia £4.99 + £1 per additional item

Special thanks due to RichardL for work on the images and he and Polly for product testing
All the best - Bill

Flippin excellent!!! *smile*
(Erling, will you please consider using the same image on the home page of the forum; that would satisfy my original idea of being able to identify forum members while at a bike meeting?)
The Reckless Promotions website is good as well; certainly better than the DGR site!
'What is DGR?' I hear you ask. Well, if you go to this page you can see what it's all about: http://www.gentlemansride.com

Hello, not forgotten nor discarded. There's a new forum software version in the works for some time, was not planning any editing to the current version before the new one is released, ftm, some patience (but I do have an idea for a temporary solution).
-
Got mine and they look good. Not sure when I will wear them as winter seams to have almost arrived here (too cold for a tee shirt), may have to wait till next summer. Are there any plans for a long sleeve version, both thick/heavy for deep winter and thinner/lighter for this time of year and or as an extra layer.
-
Saturday I got mine two ones *smile*
black and gold makes me a good looking boy for the weekend *good3*

Can we have V neck please.
-
Colin,
It's not really up to me, but my first inclination was to say "No," but you could try to contact Paul at recklesspromotion.uk and ask if a one-off is possible. I think it will mean the design will end up lower on the chest, but not sure. Having done the graphics for the design, I think I can tell you with some certainty that there will not be a revised design for V-neck. There is barely enough demand to keep Reckless interested. It would be very different if each of our members bought a shirt. I think we are getting some grace with regard to volume due to a family (not my family) relationship with Reckless.

Can we have V neck please.
I concur with Richard, I think it's a no.
Vee neck Tees in UK at least are not that popular ( yes they are available sometimes in Sports Direct and such as part of probable a run of several thousand with some all enveloping meaningless slogan on them ).
next time I see cousin Paul I'll run past him the idea of printing the design on self supplied tees, but don't hold your breath on this.
As Richard has said the number of Tees sold to the Forum has been very disappointing especially given the positive comments from all who have them, a more commercial minded concern would have probably pulled them by now, Paul and Mark are both bike minded people and this has counted in our favour.
