Today, a package arrived from England and I was excited to open it. All I have to say is the quality is excellent. Pictures don't do it justice.
Had to treat myself to these due to the Dollar to Pound exchange rate, have wanted them for years and had to pull the trigger. Going to get the spokes from them soon also.

Beautiful!
I have been admiring their site for a while too, and like you say there may not be a cheaper chance to buy these ever.
How much was the shipping to the US? I think they said somewhere around 70 pounds, so I think about $110.00 or so but he said that was an estimate.

Don't procrastinate like I did, I've being wanting these for almost 6 years and can't believe how long it's been.
It came out to £120 each rim and £75 shipping. Using today's exchange rate works out to be $407.
That's about the same price of one from Britcycle, when they told me the price last year I just laughed and said no thanks. Happy I got them from the source.

Exchange rate - our loss is your gain!
I'm pleased someone likes the impact of the UK decision to leave the EU. And it's doing Devon Rims' business (and presumably other's) no harm, it seems.

Very nice indeed. Now treat yourself even more with some Buchanan's stainless spokes & nipples. use neverseize on the threads.

Lovely rims BD, I have the same on my Super Rocket. Lightfoot in Melbourne supplied and assembled my wheels, he does a top job, but please don't ask how much I paid!

I considered them, but opted for CWC instead. From memory just over AU$400 landed when our $$$ was at its peak.
Main reason for my input is that they recommended nickle plated brass nipple to avoid galling on the stainless spokes

Sorry Tomcat, in spite of your plea I'm going to ask you.
Well?
(c'mon put it out there, don't be shy). Who's hiding what!?

yep same here although not sure who made my rims but they are nice items.
I found the stuff they supplied to stop the nipples galling, set a bit too solid for my liking (had to unscrew one whilst building up the wheel) so took off the ones I had done and used moly grease instead

DITTO.... scary wasn't it when you went to pay for them.. *pull hair out*

If you all love your bikes, wouldn't you want the best for it? Even if it meant paying more. I've read nothing but great things about Devon Rim Company, yes I was put off by the price for awhile and it shows on this occasion you get what you pay for.

Got them on my Super Rocket, just look like chrome, so highly polished, suppied via Mike @ Black Cat Wheels, Wolverhampton

Draganfly supply s/s rims, probably half the price of Devon. Quality cannot be faulted, albeit I don't they are as polished as those from Devon? I think cwc make for them from memory.
Given the exchange rate nzd to gbp I might even risk buying something from Draganfly again *pull hair out* *pull hair out*

I fitted chrome rims from Devon earlier this year. Quality seems excellent, and what I really like is that they have a profile very similar to original Dunlop rims. Those from other suppliers are often not rounded enough on the edges.

Don't do it Kiwi!!! Remember, L is just waiting to brighten your day with some silver colored cheese parts that don't even come close to fitting. And then tell you that you are wrong.
Nope, its the rims. Second only to the chrome on the tank, I'll spend the extra to be completely happy and get them from Devon.

I think you're correct there kiwiGF, but don't torture yourself, go straight to CWC *bash* *fight* *beer*

Musky,
Why do you say use Buchanan's spokes? Just curious if they fit better or look nicer, I thought about ordering the whole sheebang from Devon but this gave me thought. Buchanans is right here in the states.

Thank you very much, you shower ,been off for week with the dreaded lurgee and first thing I see when I'm looking at the forum, is these great looking rims so I look at mine, rear still beautiful thanks to the bsa self oiler system (chaincase chain etc ) front bought same time .....scrap, the chromes gone to hell in a handcart ,got 'em from a local shop so don't know who supplied only comfort was I talked the dealer down a bit by getting him to match a price in "the classic motorcycle". *sad* *problem*

I've purchased from CWC, Devon and Buchanan's. The rims that came from Devon were polished flanged alloys like the Akronts from the seventies. The surprise was that they are made in Spain in the original factory that made the Akronts. A further surprise was that CWC owns this factory , which had sat idle for many years. They recommissioned the old machinery.
As far as the rim quality goes, in this case there was no difference between CWC and Devon. The price was much lower for the CWC rims plus they throw in extra spokes of each type required. Devon did not and I forgot to request them. My little extra spoke package with 2 spares of each type (8 spokes total) cost about $120 with shipping!
Buchanan's products are probably the best there is but the cost is the highest. On the Buchanan rim there is virtually no lump or flat spot at the weld. This is because Buchanans do a final machining of the rim after welding. On other rims there tends to be a very lumpy spot at the weld. The best is to ignore this spot when lacing the wheel. It makes the dial indicators go crazy, really can't straighten the short kink at the weld. End result is fine either way, but it is nice to see the completed Buchanan's wheel go round and round with barely a flicker from the dial indicators.

Just looked at Buchanan's website, for British bikes they sell chrome
Plated steel rims made by Devon. I did not see any stainless rims at all.
