Title: A10 Choke Cable.
Post by: David on 02.08. 2016 17:02
I will eventually fit the 10TT9 to my 1957 Road Rocket but that will come later, after the bike has been started for the first time. I have a refurbished Mono that I will fit initially. The carb has no bushes or cable adjusters and so I acquired some from a local supplier. I already have have a pair of new cables and have been concentration on fitting the choke for now. The choke cable is just plain in that it doesn't have a 'Top-Hat' shaped bush for the carb end of the cable. A cable adjuster in the choke makes the cable too short and it would seem that a bush of some kind is a necessity. Both cables are identical, save for them being different lengths and if I'm honest, I don't know which is which. Does anyone have any advice that they can offer please? Thanks. David.

 Only thing I can suggest is to shorten the outer cable to accommodate the adjuster  *dunno2*

The choke cable has the same top hat bush as the throttle cable.
A10s never had adjusters on the carby.

That's interesting! Lots of the pictures cables for sale don't show the top hat. It's all very well buying on-line but I've lost count of the things that I've ordered being the wrong items. I've seen a list on this forum for brake cable lengths but nothing of carb cables. I will obviously have to another two cables but I the right ones for the job. Does the choke have an adjuster?

This one will fit;

I have them on both the SA (monoblock) and plunger (concentric).
Cut to length and solder the lever nipple on.

The top hat bush should be available from some of the spares people. The bush is a carby part, not cable. The adjuster is usually in the cable close to the handle bar end. Both throttle and choke.

Thanks for that. I might just try and make a couple.

As an aside. My A10 never needs choke at all. Just tickle up and go. Mind you, it doesn't come out much in winter time.

Same here, just a tickle is enough, (ooer missus!)
