Hello Folks
I wonder how many of your use a rubber connection boot between the carb and air cleaner / intake? Does it make difference to your bike performance at all. Looks like the air intake opening is really small and then there is the air filter.
My bike has never had one since I got it - just not sure if it is really worth getting one.

My thinking when restoring the machine was, if the bike was designed to have one it's probably important. I managed to buy a new boot from a chap in the USA who makes them from a modern material. My machine has its original pre-monoblock, (276?) carb with a K&N filter inside the original air filter case. The bike runs very well and gets clean air.

When looking for an air filter connector boot remember that the A10 and the A7 rubbers are different so be careful.
Another factor in having a flter connected is less chance of setting fire to the bike if it backfires. *good3*

I would be inclined to agree that there should be a boot present.
Any chance you have contact details for the guy where you purchased yours. I have been trawling the web looking for one and no luck so far.

Hi Craig, I guess as you have a long stroke A7 that its the long stoke version of the carb to air filter rubber pipe you mean. The part numbers you have listed are for a later model. I got one for my 49 A7 from Jeff Hunter Engineering of 35 Sandgate Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, B28 0UN who specialise in reproduction rubber components to original specifications. They can be contacted by email [email protected] or telephone on +44 (0)121 745 1954. The original pipe was a straight one as the hole in the air filter is directly behind the carb. The later A7's and A10's plungers had aright angled pipe as the hole was at right angles to the carb to allow for the different height of the carb on the A7 and A10 I believe.
