Title: Alternator model Exhaust
Post by: bigmike76 on 15.12. 2016 09:58
Hi, I have an ex police alternator model and from what I believe the left hand exhaust pipe was different on this type, for this year I have just run it with the standard pipe with extra spacers etc to get clearance, the only problem is the silencers don't run quiet symmetrical. For next year I would like to get it correct.  Does anyone know where I might be able to get a correct pipe or have any drawings to have one made up? cheers

Hi Mike.
Try Armour Motor Products.
They still manufacture here in the UK and offer quite a range for BSA .
Have there s/steel system on my Super Rocket and pleased with quality and service.

Looking at pictures, the exhaust from a 1957 model has more of an ark around the primary compared to the later exhaust, Thoughts?

When they changed the pipes in 1958 they also changed the the silencers so if you fitted pre 1958 pipes they will not match up to the later silencers.

I have recently bought an A10 alternator model not really knowing much about the A10 but always wanted an A10,now achieved the ambition at 70 !! *smile*.I have been cleaning the old thing up and had noticed the pipes seem to be a bit offset and was wondering about that then found this post. The V5 states first registered 1963 but a very knowledgeable friend of mine who knows a lot about Brit bikes thinks its a 1959 ex Police Bike.Wonder if the Alternator models were specially made for Police use ??
