Title: 1951 A10 Plunger Fenders
Post by: manxman on 06.08. 2017 21:39
I have been shopping the internet for fenders. The repop ones I found have  a bracket with two mounting plates on the front of the rear fender, offset to one side. The sellers claim they fit all plunger frames from M20 to A10. Are they correct A10  rear fenders? Can someone post a p7cture of a real BSA rear A10 fender. Thanks  Bill

Thanks for the reply, but road test articles do not show the detail of the rear fender I need. I need  pictures of the fender alone off the bike.

Can't give a photo just now,  but in case it isn't obvious the two straps have an 'offset' 90° bend on one end that attach to the fender, and the flat ends mounts to two holes in the forging  either side of the downtube....is that what you need?

Maybe if you can have a look at a parts sheet

I have a reprint of the parts book. The illustration of the rear fender does not show these mounts. The fenders I see for sale have these riveted to the fender blade. They are not the brackets in the parts book. I can only conclude they are  for some other model , not A10..

The picture shows the front of the rear fender (the one right on the picture)
At the bottom you see an elongated hole where the connector plate that holds the fender to the frame bolts on.
The connector plate (lying upside down) can be seen at the right of the headlamp shell.
The connector plate on the picture is a home made item by the PO, so not original.
My parts book shows 2 separate brackets 67-6766 (nearside) and  67-6767 (offside) for holding the bottom front to the frame

Here's a picture from my parts book
Items 40 & 83 are the brackets

That is the parts book picture I have. It does not show the brackets I see on the repop fenders for sale on ebay and other sites.  If you go on ebay and search for plunger fenders you will see the brackets I am questioning.

Yep ^^that's^^ what mine look like,  but I *think* the right angles go down not to say is right but fits better (I daresay the up in photo is for ease of display? )

manx

I have seen the pics you talk about as I am rebuilding my plunger and that guard is wrong wrong wrong

The plunger A10 did not have those two huge brackets that looks like fins on them

I dont know what they do fit but its not a plunger A10 in my opinion

Hi All.
I think the guards with the upright mounting brackets are for the B31/33 series range,  sadly the sellers seem to think that they are probably near enough!
