Title: A10 Gearbox speedo drive
Post by: ellis on 08.09. 2017 20:59
Can anybody help as I have to replace the speedo drive bush as the thread has gone to connect it to the cable. I cant seem to find anybody who lists the rubber seal that fits on to it. A part number will be a great help.   *????*

Presume it is the zinc alloy bush? You can use a suitable O ring in place of the square rubber seal.

Hi JulianS
That's a thought, I will try that when my new bush arrives.

Cheers

Triumph part 57-0948 works fine
I got mine on eBay for £2.88 each!
They are a complete nightmare to fit mind.  It's a hard job to compress the square section o ring so it doesn't get chopped off.  I ended up making a sort of small version of a piston ring compressor from a hose clamp and strip of copper.
From this experience I too would recommend a standard o ring as long as it's chunky enough.
Ps - mine is brass same as the non o ring one and not sink alloy as I'd expected.

Cheers raymond

Maybe use some rubber or silicone grease on the 'O'r ring to get it in easier..

For future reference, decent bearing sellers usually stock an array of 'O' rings.
