For those that might be interested, I had a couple of little chips in the maroon petrol tank lines, so I decided to do something about it. I touched them up with Humbrol model enamel. Humbrol crimson( code 20) is an absolutely perfect match, so if your tank lines shows signs of wear it is the perfect paint to restore them to pristine condition.

John...I've also had success using Humbrol, I've found it really useful. One time that springs to mind was a very small chip in my Starfire oil tank cover, which is blue and looks also to be metallic (supplied by Polly Palmer in the late 90s). Humbrol have a metallic blue which is almost a perfect match...not bad for about £1.50 a pot!
