Title: A10 Tank Bracket ?
Post by: oldnyk on 21.03. 2018 18:41
*????* When I bought the Bike and took the Tank off there was no Bracket fitted under the Tank, only the big bolt holding the Tank down to the Frame. The Tank has 2 studs underneath at the front and I thought the Bracket would just bolt up to the Tank under the Frame thus securing the Tank at the front. But when the Tank is dropped on the Bracket won't go high enough to locate onto the Bolts fitted to the underside of the Tank  *????* *????*. Should there be 2 Brackets that perhaps go from the Tank Studs to the top of the Engine Mounting Studs, one each side ?. Not too worried about it but would just like to know about the correct fixing. Any info appreciated, cheers.

G'day oldnyk.
That bracket is only to stop the tank from spreading. It does not attach to the frame
The only tank mounting is the center bolt from the top of the tank.
Cheers

oldnyk

as musky states theres only the one bracket underneath the tank but it's not connected to the frame

your bracket need to have a couple of bends in it to allow the securing nuts to reach the studs on the tank

here's a pic of mine

*smile* I knew I could count on you lot  *smiley4*,felt a bit dim asking but eh ! one needs to ask sometimes, never thought of the stop the Tank from spreading, nice to learn something. Perhaps I bought the wrong Bracket as it's straight, will look for the one with the bent ends. Thank's all for your replies.

looking at the pic in the parts manual for a swing arm its called a petrol tank stiffening plate and it does looks flat and straight in the manual

oldnyk, perhaps your tank isn't seated all the way down on the frame ?

both my A and B swing arm bikes have the bent at the ends stiffening plate but looking at them I think a straight flat one would also work in my case

G'day oldnyk.
There's no such thing as a stupid question. There might be a few (tongue in cheek) silly answers. Saves time and money if you ask rather than guess.
Cheers

The one I have on my Plunger is straight.
I had to put a small crank at each end on mine.

The only crank on mine was the one fitting it - but I have profiled it a bit to clear the frame portion that holds the rubber bungs.

Yes, I had to do the same. I had to cut a section out because there was no way that it was going to fit otherwise. Very strange that.

For some reason the strap will foul the hanger on some frames so a double set strap is fitted.
