Post by: Bulphan dave on 13.04. 2018 14:35
Hi all,
I'm looking to fit a mirror on to my 62 a10, there's lots on sale but can anybody recommend a particular model and supplier

Cheers dave

This is the type I have, (only one) https://goo.gl/L1xP7n I was not happy with the supplied flat mirror so bought a convex replacement mirror insert. I needed to use Loctite to stop the mirror working loose. I'm pretty sure mine is stainless steel, although that one is chrome.

On my '59 Super Rocket I fitted a stainless bar end mirror, obtained from Priory Magnetos.  I've posted before that I'm very happy with that, on a bike that has a very upright riding position.  The style is what I think of, rightly or wrongly, as like the Stadium mirror I had, on a C15 way back.

On the cafe style RGS (avatar) I fittted one of these...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-7-8-22mm-Black-Round-Motorcycle-Handle-Bar-End-Side-Rearview-Mirrors-CNC/323176889002?epid=917044525&hash=item4b3ed7faaa:g:Ih4AAOSw7btavJ53 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-7-8-22mm-Black-Round-Motorcycle-Handle-Bar-End-Side-Rearview-Mirrors-CNC/323176889002?epid=917044525&hash=item4b3ed7faaa:g:Ih4AAOSw7btavJ53)
I've been happy with that too although 'traditional' looking it is not.  There's also one on my RGS lookalike that presently also has a more upright riding position (since the clip-ons contributed to me taking a tumble one day).
At the price of these alloy framed mirrors I thought 'what's to lose?' but I've been pleased with them.
I'm not sure the link is the exact supplier I used but I suspect the product comes from the same Chinese factory and the price looks similar to what I paid.

I use something like this;

https://www.amazon.co.uk/CICMOD-Universal-Motorcycle-Handlebar-Aluminum/dp/B014KRBJX0/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_263_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=AVSXJN91A90NCSR0P950

They are available from myriad suppliers in varying materials and finishes. Then I mount a Bumm short stem mirror on that. Very little trouble from vibration. I also use one for a ball mount for sat nav.

Same as mine. I changed the mirror to a convex one cos the supplied flat mirror was like looking through a hole.

I hate convex mirrors- too deceptive

Do you have a flat mirror in your four wheeler(s)?

You bet I do- flatties all 'round, with the exception of a small stick-on convex one on the van for L/H low down blind spot detection

I'm with you duTch. I've had a few near miss's merging left. And with only one eye it's even harder to judge distance. Flatties for me.
Cheers

Yeah, Halcyon Mirrors are superb, I cannot recommend them highly enough . All stainless construction, and great image rendering. Mine has been on the bike for years, and still looks brand new. Whats more unlike some mirrors they do not vibrate loose. The fixings are very well engineered.

Look, with a convex mirror you get to see all of the recycling boxes, not just one!

820 Halcyon Bar End Mirror is what I have fitted. Which ever you decide to fit you have chosen well. Halcyon mirrors are extremely well made and will serve you well.
