Title: Plunger A10 toolbox
Post by: AdrianJ on 10.03. 2019 17:43
I have just realised that the 53 plunger A10 I'm rebuilding has had a swinging arm toolbox fitted (cobbled together). I am seeing plenty of adverts on eBay for new B31/33 toolboxes from India. Does anyone know if this is the same part as I need? The back end of the B31 looks very similar to the A10. I think the A10 part no. is 67-9002. The B31 parts list seems to indicate that it is, but I would like to know for certain before ordering one.
Thanks in advance.
Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

The part number for the plunger B31 / B33 toolbox is 67-9007.  Not sure how much that helps, it may just be holes drilled differently or dimensions different.

Thanks Ted,
I thought they were both 9002 but I must have misread it
I'll probably wait till Stafford and see what I can find.

67 9007 was superseded by 67 9002 according to this factory parts service bulletin from 1954.

A10 is 67-9002
It fixes with a bolt inside below right and a P-clip on the outside above left. The P-clip is easy to make from a strip of sheet metal

My understanding is that the smaller toolbox, made for the rigid framed machines continued to be used on the plunger frames for a few years before a larger one was produced.

The parts book pages are from the 1951/52 book (you can access the book from this forum, it was posted last year) shows the 2 different tool boxes 67 9007 and 67 9002.

Thanks very much everybody.
I'm a lot clearer about what I need now.
I'll keep my eye out at the Stafford show next month.
Never occurred to me to look at the 51/52 book. I've been using 53 and to some extent 54 as that seems correct for the engine.
