I notice that I have a broken spoke in the back wheel. Ruddy potholes! Where should I go for stainless spokes?
-
CWC

CWC
Thanks.

CWC are good but last time I needed a spoke the minimum order was ten, making them rather expensive. Maybe try Brickwoods?
-
I have found CWC and Devon overly expensive and not very helpful. Both seem to have a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude and we know what that did for the UK motorcycle industry.
Stainless is not a precious metal and spoke machines crank out spokes at speed, so charging £2 or thereabouts for a spoke is, in my view, way over the top. But they can ‘throw in’ the nipples (which take more work to make) thereby highlighting the problem

........ Ruddy potholes! ........
Soft words......Mine are a shitload harder *rant* *rant* *problem* *rant* *bash* *bash**rant* *rant* *bash**rant* *problem* *rant* *rant*...and that's not harsh enough
I bought my rims and spokes from CWC too, and lucky they chucked in a few spares- not sure if they charged me though *conf2*....
I've used one extra but nice to have more at hand, and should've asked for extra rear ones when I ordered a replacement front rim *conf2*

I will strip the tyre off and identify the size and type of spoke. I was hoping to buy a single spoke but I guess it won't hurt to have spares.
-
I have got a spare or two for 19 inch S/A FW hubs, if that's what your after PM me details and I'll pop one in the post.
Off to Powburn show today, was going to take the bike but I've been a bit crocked this week so taking Wife, next door neighbours and Border Terrier Bramble instead

Thanks Bill. I don't know if my Plunger spokes would be the same as a SA wheel.
PS., sorry you are not in tip-top form. I hope you feel better soon. *wink2*

Buchanan’s are my go to people for wheelie stuff
I have spare new rear wheel spokes for SA that I can donate if they are the same and it helps

I've unscrewed the spoke and left the nipple in the wheel.
It's a straight spoke that should have a mushroom tip. The spoke is for QD crinkle hub wheels. Here is a sketch of the offending article. If you happen to have a spare that I could buy from you I'd appreciate it. *smile*

Yes somewhere in the back of my mind I thought yours was a different model, no probs

G'day GB I could make you one but the post cost would be more than getting a hand full from someone local *eek*

My spoke, plus a spare were supplied by the lovely Morris/Patrick in Belgium. He refused any money, even the postage, so £10 has been donated to this forum. Thank you again Patrick. *smile*
I've just fitted the spoke.
