Can anyone with a later swinging arm check their sidecar mounting hole as shown in my photos and let me know if theirs also has a collar welded to the rear as mine does? Seen in mirror in photo.
The main hole in the frame is 19mm (3/4") diameter, the hole in the collar is 13 mm (1/2") diameter.
I need to know if this was BSA original or whether someone has added it in the past.
Thanks.

my 61 super rocket as a 3/4" hole right through - no collar. pics below

Many thanks mikeb, that tells me it was definitely put on by a previous owner. A special thanks for going to the trouble of taking the photos.

Hmm strange........ my 59 Super Rocket does not have the gussets and hole at all. Good job I am not planning to fit a chair.

Hi Jim, I think this was introduced for the 1960 - 62 models.
(Edit): But Watsonian make all the necessary frame clamps and fitting to fit any bike.

The sidecar mount was fitted from about 1957.

Hi Roger,
It looks like a washer is jammed into the rear of the mounting?
Have you tried to give it a whack and see if its movable?

John, just seen your post and you're spot on, see my email sent to Ben at Watsonian on 28 Aug.
When I cleaned up the inside of the hole I saw what I thought looked like a washer stuck to the back and tried to knock it off with a screwdriver but it didn't move.
On a more thorough clean up of the hole and looking through it I could see a join. It then dawned on me what it was and with a punch and a *bash* out popped (jammed in the hole very tight) a heavy duty spring washer. At least it tells me that my A10 had a sidecar attached at one time.
Also photo below of the GP Manx I've bought from Watsonian. They're going to change the lights for it to be more in keeping with my bike (i.e. no indicators). Comes with a hood and tonneau cover. It'll be delivered in a couple of weeks time with the fittings for me to fit it myself.

Does the seat fold down to give access to the boot part ?

Yes Roy, seat slides forward and the back tips forward. Here it is with hood fitted.

I changed my rear light.

Ben said he was going to fit a new mudguard because the one on it has a scrape at the rear bottom edge and because a new mudguard will have to be made he's going to see if his laminator can do away with the panel that the current indicator/light lens fits on and then he'll fit a more period stop/tail light to suit a BSA. I've left him to decide what light to fit. For the front it'll be a standard clear Lucas 488 (i.e. Morris Minor / A35 type).
Roy, does your lower rear sidecar bracket eye bolt fit into a 3/4" hole between the footrests (as shown in my photo)?
Also if you get the time is it possible to take photos of how Watsonian connected the 4 sidecar mounting arms to your bike? Mine will, no doubt, be the same as yours and it'll be a big help to see what they're like before I get to fit them.
By-the-way, how have you got on with the camera? I can see the rear one mounted on the sidecar chassis.

Rear lower fixing is into a ¾ dia hole in quadrant.
The camera is for insurance purposes only, I'm not too bothered about a clear video, so haven't gone into anti-vibration mountings.

Many thanks for the excellent photos Roy and done so quickly. It's interesting to see exactly what'll be provided by Watsonian and will be such a help when I have to fit them. Can't thank you enough *smile*.

Happy to help.
If you need anything else, just shout up.
I have had my share of help from you chaps.
Be interested to see what Ben comes up with for the rear light.

Yes, I'll post a photo of it when I get it.
