Can anyone give me any information on the Reproduction Chrome Petrol Tanks that are for sale on Ebay from England.

Rocketman bought one as I remember, but not through ebay.
Possibly Gagg and Sons or Burtons Bike Bits.
There is also someone on ebay selling them from India, reckoned to be the source of them.
There was some discussion on britbike.com about it and the worry of sending money there.
I seem to remember that someone on that board had successfully bought from there.
Go there do a search, come to your own conclusions.

Iain... That was mainly for M20 tin ware, I think the thread was started by someone off our very own A10 forum here cant remember who though. I see the question also was asked on the M20 forum that Henk in Holland runs. Apparantly the tin ware is made to very good standards and I'd suspect the petrol tanks would be too, unless there is more than one seller which may very well be the case.

hi russ you can get them from c and d autos they get them in batches
from india a very good tank well made i have had no truble with mine
and i wouldent trust an old tank eanyway unless you know how meny times its been chromed
because every time its done it has to be polished so the metal gets thiner and thiner

Just a point to remember here chaps, apart from the fact that you don't have much choice other than these, from my checks of various suppliers of these tanks in the UK, the gap underneath the tank which sits across the frame top tube tends to be around 3"/75mm wide whereas the distance across the frame rubbers is nearer 2"/50mm. This means that you should pack the excess gap out somehow to avoid the tank having a sideways wobble. I also have 2 mates with these tanks who said this wasn't so but when checking their bikes they realised that sideways security was lacking but they hadn't noticed it. So, it's up to you. There are UK made tanks around from some obscure source not on the usual radar with the correct gap but they are not easily spotted. Before buying check with the supplier about the gap. Hope this helps.

I can confirm what alanp has stated , bit too wide, I intend to stick some thick rubber sheet onto the tank to take up the slack.
Also if you intend to store the tank for a while fit the taps and fill it with paraffin or petrol otherwise it will probably rust inside, mine did despite being stored in a plastic box with lid.
I bought one of those kits from Frost Restoration and treated it, made a nice job of it and probably worth doing anyway.
PS anybody know where my money goes, can't seem to hold onto it. *smile*
