Title: How is the rear mudguard on a 1958 A10 GF fastened to the frame.
Post by: JohnWB on 23.02. 2021 19:18
Does anyone have any pictures showing how a 1958 A10 GF rear mudguard is fastened to the frame.

I stripped down the machine a while ago and, like an idiot, forgot to tke any photos.

Hi John
Hopefully these pictures that I took when I was disassembling my 59 GF will help.
Cheers
Tim

Don't forget the spacer between the crosstube and the mudguard, else the mudguard will be way out at the rear.

All bikes have  clips and rubber block spacers holding the guard to the frame cross tubes. Earlier versions have clips  and an angle bracket (42 6820) to the frame as a lower fixing.  All depends on what combination of mudguard and frame you have.  With a bit of luck the holes will line up and you can choose the most appropriate fixing.

The rear stays provide the basic datum, spacers to the frame need to be made/arranged to fix the guard relatively stress free otherwise vibration will result in fatigue cracks and splits.
