Title: wired bolts on primary chain case
Post by: jhg1958 on 08.05. 2021 17:54
I have just noticed in the Haynes manual the 2 rear bolts that hold the inner part of the primary chain case to the engine should be wired. I have used allen bolts with locktight on the threads.

Am I being foolish?  I realise that should these bolts work loose they will cause a bonny mess of the primary drive and the clutch, but wired?

I guess it depends on your comfort level with the allen bolts. If you want to keep the allen bolts and still want wire, drill through the heads.

Just so long as you put a thick washer under the head equivalent in area to the original it should be fine
Allan head have a bad habbit of eating into alloy as they were specifically designed for clamping steel
