The strenge sounds i was hearing yesterday have been located.

G'day Chris.
Not a good place to mount a horn. Blocking air flow to the head will result in more expensive noises *work*
Cheers
-
At least the horn is still there. Time to invest in a lock washer or nylock nut I reckon.
-
I had the same problem, when I pressed a button on the left handlebar that thing dangling down there made some very strange sounds.... *problem*
-
If you mount the horn on the bottom of the tank on the brace studs you risk fracturing the stud welds.
I found this out the hard way in about 1968 when I bought my first Flash.
The horn was so mounted and I got a fuel leak.

Resonance is a mighty force.

Is that like vibration, Richard?
-
I suppose you're pulling my leg. Vibration without infused energy typically dies out harmlessly. Keep pumping energy into the system at its resonant frequency and you get destruction. (Just for the sake of telling you and probably everyone else here something you already know.)

I remember my Pop explaining how a troupe of marching soldiers would be told to 'break step' when crossing a weak bridge to avoid resonance destroying the bridge.

nobody told the engineers about it who built that foot bridge in london *bash*

That was mad. The bridge now has long shock absorbers fitted.

We have a warning notice on the A586 at Poulton nr Blackpool. It says no more than 18 people on the bridge at any one time. So be warned. Any number of Artics and eight wheelers plus Buses and cars.
