Hi all,
I recently acquired a 1960 BSA A10 - my first introduction to classic bikes after years of modern bikes (1200GS, Honda Supersports etc.).
I blame my neighbour as he bought a Bantam recently.
Am based near Banbury so if there is anyone remotely local it would be great to connect.
Thanks for allowing me to join - am sure it will be very useful!
Regards,
Ian

Hya. I'm in Leamington Spa. My bike is a 1955 Plunger A10.

G'day Ian *welcome*
No hope for you now you've been bitten by the BSA bug.
I know you're going to love her and all the help you need is right here.
Greybeard is only 30-40 miles away.
Cheers

ifallon, what is your history of mechanicking? Do you have the correct spanners for the BSA? Can we see some pictures of your bike(s)? Is the BSA running?
-
Hi - I'm used to doing easy to medium level work on the newer bikes over the years but by no means an expert at all and no experience of old machines.
I have some Whitworth sockets and spanners. Haven't actually got stuck into undoing anything yet!
Yes it's running pretty nicely and rideable (nicer than expected handling!) but leaking a little bit of oil when running (looks to be at the rocker box level and also where the oil pipe meets the oil tank). I have a bunch of gaskets, oil and other bits and bobs on order as the first job is sort the leak and change the fluids. Just need to figure out an oil filter (it has a spin on filter conversion).

This section of the forum is for intros so we can't talk tech here. However, I'd like to know if the bike has been overhauled by someone who knows what they were doing. Please search for the term 'Sludge Trap'.

Welcome! Thanks for intro post.

Being a part of this forum is just like going to the pub on bike night - but it’s cheaper and the answers to your questions are a lot more reliable.
Welcome and ‘ask away’. As a long time member often writes, ‘there are NO silly questions’.

Maybe. He paid very little for the Bantam by comparison though. Although is now wanting a physically bigger bike !
