...this. What would you think...
The dark blue as standard (and probably a 'white' version as option)
Am preparing a changeover to the new forum version.
Not now, not very soon, but one day it has to be done to keep pace with internet and mobile standards.
-
Not a fan of that; too heavy.
cheers,
Richard

I'm with Richard, don't like that *eek*

E,
It will be many years before you personally understand this, but old men aren't big fans of change.

I’m on another forum that has a jazzy new style layout. It also has a button allowing users to revert to the old layout, which looks a lot like the one we’re used to on this forum.
I always use the ‘revert’ button!
-
Give me the lighter background any day.
-
It’s tiny and hard to read.
-
I don't have a problem with the current style but a refresh is nice.
In the test shots the contrast of light blue against dark blue may be difficult for some people. On the other hand high contrast can be tiring and red against blue can kind of flash.
Maybe we could see a few different layouts and vote for our favourite.

NO

Too dark and subdued and the print isn't very legible.

If it aint broke dont try to Fix it !

*smile* much as expected. Do not worry, when the day comes it will be close to how it looks now.
Thanks for the feedback.
-
Not for me I'm afraid.

One can see what it will basically look like (not now, sometime in the future), the SMF support forum >

Some examples of the light theme.
-
A lot more like I reckon. Couldn't complain about that!
-
Much better.

Yep no need. Or at least give us a light ver and a dark ver. Legibility can be a challenge with black backgrounds.
-
I like the potential light version, well enough. One thing though, will all timing covers be black?

Dear Caretaker,
Like they all said.

So light theme it will be, and when the day comes for the new software (still quite some time), will work to make it looking as close as practically possible to the current layout (whose simple clarity I like very much).
Thanks for the opinions.

Regarding new forum software, postponed due to lots of bugs with the new version(s), there has been a 2.1.0, then 2.1.1, then 2.1.2, then 2.1.3, all during a quite short time. Tested some of them, all nearly there, but still problems.
So things will continue like before for some more time, best to wait for 2.1.7 or so, or until one is forced to up(?)grade due to changes in internet standards.
