This is a 1963 Big Valve Super Rocket which was recently imported into Australia from the U.S. It had Illinois registration, the plate is still on it.
Note the 140 MPH speedo and the window type ammeter. Also has filler plugs in the fork top nuts.
The headlight switch is the early type but I thought that the 41SA switch should be fitted, but I could be wrong.
It has the late barrel with the fancy front fins.
All up, pretty original.

Hi Trev,
Also has filler plugs in the fork top nuts.
Its more than likely it has the "Dow" dampers fitted ?
Great looking bike

No John, the American models have filler plugs. I will post pictures later.
-
As promised, top nuts with filler plugs.
The plugs are 5/16 x 26 and are chrome plated brass.

Very nice looking machine Trev, obviously been well restored (over there?), how did you come across it??
-
I have a 1962 super rocket has the same round tank badges .....I have been told they are supposed to have a tear drop badge .....
-
"Window ammeter"?
-
Very nice. Never saw it in my own ramblings around northern Illinois.

Sean, the tank badges on the 2 gallon tank should be round.
Rex, I call that type of ammeter the "window" because the needle is behind the face and is viewed through a window in the face.
Jules, a friend of mine who has a restoration business is doing some work on it. I don't know that it has been restored as it is a low mileage bike.

Hi Trev
Thanks, everyday's a school day *ex*

thanks for sharing Trev, the "window" viewpoint is interesting and I note the mileage is only 10,500, if its genuine/unrestored thats a true "barn find" LoL cheers
