Title: Problems with dyno charging
Post by: marvic on 26.12. 2022 18:22
I have 1959 bsa a10 and having some problems with charging. I’ve noticed that the amp meter when I’m riding the bike is not moving and that means it’s not charging. I have the battery flat dead but I believe that has nothing to do with the charging system, I opened the timing side cover to check the belt and belt looks to be working fine as well.

So what’s my next move? What should I check next please? Thanks for any help

G'day marvic.
I'm not the best at electrical, but I find this page a great help https://www.matchlessclueless.com/electrical/lucas/testing-lucas-dynamo/
Cheers

Hi Marvic,
Some electronic regulators will not work when the battery is flat
Start off with a known good battery and see what works first

Here's a step-by-step guide to checking the charging system, available on the Priory magnetos website. Click on the link near the top of the page. https://sites.google.com/site/priorymagnetos/dynamos
