Title: The Black Dog Ride
Post by: muskrat on 19.03. 2023 21:16
G'day Fellas.
Or should it read Oldtimers setting in!
Down here we have a ride called The Black Dog Ride raising awareness for men's depression and suicide. I lost a Nephew about 20 years ago.
I looked up the rides and decided to do the Bathurst ride so early Saturday morning I went up to join the ride. Bugga no one showed! I rode home the back way. I then looked it up and found I was looking at the 2021 ride *bash* Then I saw the rides were on Sunday but there was no Bathurst ride. I entered in the Virtual ride meaning I could ride where I liked by myself.
Sunday I went up to the Bathurst meeting place in case anyone else had the same idea. No, just me. OK where am I going? Sofala sounds good and not that far. Being too early for the pub I continued to Hill End. The road was closed due to the bush fire a week or so earlier but I snuck through. I could only get a coffee there. Next stop Hargraves and the pub was open. Two quick beers and on to Mudgee. I thought about going out through Kandos/Rylstone but Capertee pub was closer. Two more beers there and only 50Km to home.
A nice ride of nearly 400Km and time to remember Shane.
Cheers

Hmm. I suspected We might see the Harle there for the 400Km ride. Ya' know, DGR supports the same causes and also originated out of Australia?

G'day Richard.
Yes I do the DGR as well.
The HD is kinder on the hip and the roads out there are one long pot hole.
Cheers

 Musky,

I know, I know, any excuse.  *smile* How long AREyour DGR rides. Here in Chicago, if you get 20 mikes, you’re Lucky.

G'day Richard.
"How long ARE your DGR rides." Not long enough. The ride from here to Bathurst (60Km) for the last one was three times the length of the ride *ex*
Their main concern is that being dressed dapper there is very little protection in case of a spill and a good lawyer would sue.
Cheers
