do i have to unsolder the wires to get a proper reading because of the condenser ?

Nope. You only have to unsolder THAT to get a handle on its capacitance and leak-proofness bergs. (And it's work you don't want unless you have to go there.)
The LT resistance you'll see across the points if they're fitted and open, or from the centre screw 'nut' on the inside to the mag spindle if they're off.
The HT you'll see from the brass bit on the slipring to the armature spindle - or should. The caveat there is if the connection between the spike off the coil that goes into a tiny hole in the slipring is bad. Then you might see Mega Ohms, or Open Line, even if the coil itself is still continuous and in the normal range.

thanks Bill and is a digi meter ok to measure the resistance or do i need a needle dial meter ?

Digi's good, no worries there
