Title: Head lamp question
Post by: Adtrac on 04.03. 2024 19:47
Is the underling pilot lamp functional on the 1954 golden flash,
I have looked and can not find  any bulb holder for it ,
Can somebody post a photo of the  proper holder and its location?
Ps the underling housing is there  ,just no holder

Yes it lit up, I had a shell but unfortunately it did not have the bulb holder, in case it helps here is a pic showing what appear to be small brackets for it.

This has come up before. If you search for pilot you will find this and more.

John

Lens and  lamp internals used as a sidelight on the Daimler Dart, so Classic Car parts websites are a possible source. Plenty here in the UK....won't rust, reckon they are made of gold.

The lens certainly, but I wouldn't think the internals were used on a car as the orientation of the bulb to the lens would make the whole unit much bulkier than desirable on the front wing of a car.

Draganfly sell the bracket that holds the bulb holder, I had to do a little fettling to get it to fit in my headlamp.

I had one on my C11, was always always being stopped by police for having no front lamp. It was on but they're so dim that I think they're dangerous in todays traffic. I kept the housing but replaced the headlamp reflector for one with a side light in.

Though you could use one of the modern super-bright LED's in there?

So basic you could just make your own and buy the bulb holder.
