Title: Attaching photos
Post by: Craigy on 02.10. 2024 13:39
What am I doing wrong?
I can’t attach photos. In the past when I went to attach, I was asked for image size….alway chose small as med/large were too big. But now I’m not getting the choice of image size.
Cheers Craig

Hello, see https://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=19200.0

"But now I’m not getting the choice of image size."
There has never been any choice about size, just the max file size is mentionned. See attachment.
Prepare your image on the pc \ tablet \ phone and make sure it's less than the max file size.

Anything from 1 mb \ 1000 kb to 2 mb \ 2000 kb is fine, but if needing specially detailed photos then go up towards 4 mb \ 4000 kb.

All phones will have some resize option, see attachment from my android\samsung. The 60% on that device gives me a filesize of a round 1,5 mb (down from approx 5 mb), still very large in pixels, around 1600 x 2800 and will look fine on any display.

Good evening, I'm hoping someone can help me upload some photos.
I have tried several times to upload photos comparing an original A10 fuel tank and a "modern" Indian manufactured fuel tank. The photos are on my Windows 11 computer, each is less than 1Mb in size and in .jpg format. When I attach the photos and go to Preview, the photos cannot be seen. Should I be able to see the photos in Preview mode or will they be attached to the message when I hit Send?
Any comments appreciated.
Thank you.

I have windows 11 too. This post has a photo attached. After typing your post scroll down to 'Attach' and click on 'choose file'. Then select (double-click) the file from your computer's normal file directory. The file name should appear alongside the 'Choose file' button below. Click 'Post' and your post is done.... unless your attached file is too big, when the Forum software will kick it out! To reduce file sizes, I load a photo into 'paint', a standard microsoft app, then use the resize button, then save as a new file, or cut and paste the part of the photo you want to focus on and save the clipped image as a new file. Hope this helps.

I'm using Windows 10 on my laptop, which i'm using now, and Windows 11 on the other one, and when i resize a photo there's no need to go into "paint" just find your image and one of the options is to resize, which i do, and away you go.

Hello, indeed the preview does not show attachments, only the text content, that's the way the forum software developpers made things.

The post can always be edited ('Modify' > add or remove attachments, edit text) after posting.

Craigy (and others) You need to optimise your images, that means reduce the file data size before you post them. Just a bit of 'homework' will point you to applications - either on your computer, or free to download on the 'net. Imagine storing many buckets of water, when all you need is a glassful in each bucket.
