Title: Magneto cover
Post by: ceejay51 on 27.12. 2024 17:48
Evening all, this is my first post on this forum and I’m sure I am tapping into a wealth of knowledge and experience. I’m picking up a 1958 A7 next week which I want to very “lightly” restore and use as run around. The magneto cover is missing so I’m looking for one or a picture or drawing so I can fabricate one. Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hello, welcome, please do the intro + picture in "Introductions, Stories, Meetings & Pictures" ?

Make a new post there, and edit ('modify' button) the magneto post to only contain the question.
To members, please do not post (off topic) replies (about bike history etc) here, wait until the Introduction post appears. Thanks.

That looks very complete.
Re "mag cover":
Start by downloading the BSA Service sheets, they are al free from various sites on the web, same for the parts book.  BSA parts diagrams are very high quality and make life much easier.
It helps if you can post the part number, I'm not quite sure which part you mean.  If its the points cover there are a confusing number of variations, some threaded, some screws, some with a clip and you have to have the correct one to match the mag.  All are available.

If you can take a close-up photo of the end of your magneto, I'll be able to supply the one you need. There are about three different types depending on which magneto you have. There is no guarantee that the magneto on the bike is the correct one for the year, but they all work equally well, but they have different end covers. Either post the photo here or send by email to my website at Priory Magnetos.
