Title: Wiring loom routeing
Post by: Nomad54 on 29.01. 2025 21:06
I am about to install a new wiring loom so can anyone advise me of the correct routing. Does it run down the left or right hand side of the frame.

I was kind of waiting for someone knowledgable to answer this.  I can give you my experience.

I made my own loom for my 1961 GF so the wiring is suited (mostly) to the way I chose to run it.  Additionally I have fitted an alternator and electronic ignition.

From the headlamp shell I passed the loom on the RHS of the headstock in through a hole in the headstock. This is a site of high wear as you would expect.  I wrapped all of the loom in self amalgamating tape but this is not enough here and I plan to reinforce this here as a winter job. the loom passes between the top two frame tubes.

I then passed it onto the LHS of frame and threaded it through the middle of the head stays.

The loom then passes under the rear head stay bolt under the RHS Frame tube passing to the left of the battery box.  Many of my wires lead to the tool box where I put the electronic ignition and coil.

Hi Nomad
I notice you’re from the same neck of the woods as me. Larbert for myself.
Look forward to seeing another BSA on the local roads once you sort your wiring.
In all honesty I just ran my wiring down the right of the tube to avoid the oil pipe to the top that runs along the left. But not sure if there is a correct way. Maybe someone will know more.
Regards
Stephen

Hi Hughsie
From Grangemouth and in the process of rebuilding an ex police bsa a10 alternator model which is turning out to be quite a challenge. When you get in touch with people regarding parts there are none available for this model or they have never heard of them but I will get there.

Great stuff. Good luck with the build.
Not sure if you noticed, but a local gent on Facebook marketplace just posted some random A10 parts for sale in Falkirk this week.
May not be of any use but have a look just incase.
My bike is deffo not a show winner but if you need to see anything specific let me know.
Best regards
Stephen
