I am currently restoring my 1954 BSA A10 GOLDEN FLASH and need to purchase a new saddle for the bike but I am unsure as to what size the correct saddle needs to be .
There seems to be 3 sizes , small , large or extra large
Could some one provide a measurement for the width of saddle that is correct for this bike.
Cheers

have you contacted Leightons in UK ?
they carry the foam and covers for many models however not all seat bases are available

Is it for a sprung saddle or a dual seat?

Sprung saddle

I've measured both mine and they are 18 inches at the widest point. As I understand it, the three sizes are small for bantams around 14/15" , medium around 18" for B31/32 & A7 /10s and large were for the pre-war G14 etc or if extra comfort is required. Hope this helps.

Critical dimensions for a spring saddle are the distance between the saddle nose mounting point ......and the two rear spring fixing points. These latter must be the same distance apart as the two frame mounts lie when the frame has the rear wheel in place, there can be a fair amount of flex in a bare frame..... Otherwise the seat springs will not be vertical and the seat will have a sideways bias guaranteed to cause amusement to to those following.
