Just learned of the passing of cartoonist Paul Sample, creator of biking legend Ogri.
The well observed comic strips were a real hoot, and there was always a lesson for poor Malcolm, the fall guy for whom everything went wrong. Got the first cartoon collection somewhere..... must dig it out.

Say no more.
I have kept my 20-yr-old HJC Ogri helmet despite being way past it's sell by . . .
Poor Malcolm, no-one to kick his backside and mend his pile of shite.
If you can get a copy of the Lost Originals book, well worth it.

Oh no my hero. Unfortunately I fear I was more of a Malcolm than an Ogri no matter how hard I tried

Sadly time marches on. ... Learned of the recent passing of BSA works Motocross Champ Jeff Smith. In the '60s he actually lived a few doors down from a mate, in Streetly, a suburb of Walsall, and was known then simply as "Jeff the fella that works at the Beeza".
Never realised he was a works rider... back then the naivity of youth has a lot to answer.
