Title: A10 misfiring on quick acceleration
Post by: madsens on 04.04. 2026 20:24
Hi all
I have been a bit hibernating from the forum, as I have not been using my A10 much - due to travelling and life in general, only occational use...

But I have a small problem.... Bike is starting ok, running ok, but if I try to accelerate fast (you know, right handle all the way) it's like the bike is hesitating/misfiring, then  accelerates, then same again, accelerate, hesitate/misfire, accelerate...
Only when doing a fast acceleration... If I do it nice and gently, running it up in speed, there is no problem...
I have cleaned the slipring, checked she gets enough fuel, so I guess it is ignition related...

So any ideas? my first thought would be sparkplugs, sparkplug cap, cables, pickups.... but any input welcome - I am planning to go to the Summercamp in Sweden (Oeland) in august, and I don't always ride easy and sedate... *smile*

regards
Joergen

Maybe a sticky points pivot, so I'd suggest a little maintenance. Points plate off and a clean up of the points and a dab of oil on that pivot. Add few drops to the felt wick in the cam ring at the same time. Simple to do and as good a place to start as any.

Thanks Swarfy - I will try that...
And then another test drive - as soon as the wind calms down, storm at the moment with bridges and ferrys canceled...

Mechanics used to say plugs first, then points, in almost any reported running fault.

Failing to fire under load is often an HT issue.
