Title: Which Magazine ?
Post by: Desburnett on 17.02. 2010 20:59
Within UK what motorcycle magazines are read on a regular basis and what are the good and bad points.
I cant resist any of them and end up with a monthly selecton including Classic Bike, Classic Bike Guide, Motorcycle Mechanics and others including Trials and Motocross.

I used to buy a couple of them many years ago until the quality of the journalism hit rock bottom.
The writers obviously had no knowledge of the bikes they were writing about and took everything the owners said as gospel truth.
Maybe a lot was lost between the interview and the finished article to give them some benefit of doubt.
Anyway, I got sick of seeing "concours" machines which Blind Freddy could see were a mishmash of parts from different years.
That's my rant for today.
Also, they were over priced with our weak dollar and news agents mark-up.

Me two Trev. Used to get Classic Bike. But since Jim Scaysbrook's OLD BIKE AUSTRALASIA hit the stands I read no other.

That makes three of us, I used to buy "The Classic Motorcycle" and "Classic Bike " but stopped a couple of years ago. Like Trev I got sick of the articles on "immaculately restored" machines that had that many blatantly obvious faults it got beyond a joke.

If there was a BSA mag every month or just on old british bikes I would subscribe. Hmmm maybe a good business plan for someone.

Des,

I checked that out as soon as I read about it. here is the reply I received back.

Richard,

The cost for a 1 year subscription to Old Bike Australasia is A$89.00.

You can order via our website www.chevron.com.au which would be the easiest option for you.

Alternatively, you would need to send a cheque/international money order drawn on an Australian Bank in Australian dollars. We do not accept cheques drawn on foreign banks.

Kind Regards
