Title: I`ve bought a bsa for £5
Post by: flashblack on 19.06. 2010 14:14
As i can`t afford to buy a rigid single at the moment, i`ve just spent a fiver on a little project to keep me amused. I can`t decide what to run off it yet, and i haven`t a clue, as yet, what it`s off, so i`ll need to do some research and hopefully find some service notes or any other info on it. My initial thoughts are to mount it on a base as a stationary engine. Should be fun!

ps i love the little amal carb!

ive come across these before but not for years, great engines, I would mount it on a board for now and run it as a stationary engine

ive seen these fitted to cement mixers, water pumps ,pedestrian rollers etc, yours is in great nick

Nice! I'm actually quite envious, would love to have something like that kicking around in the shed, dunno what I'd do with it though... I used to dream of owning one of these when I was a lad, to put one in a home made go cart, big ideas never materialised though. Have fun with it!

I`m well happy with it, i`ve just spent all afternoon cleaning the carb (which had a sticking slide), it`s turns over nicely with good (as far as i can tell) compression, and it has a spark! I need a bit of fuel pipe, some fuel, and hopefully it should run  *smiley4*

ps    it even uses straight 40 oil, like my other bsa!

How about a nice set of starting rollers. A BSA starting a BSA. Great pick up.
Cheers

it was well worth the fiver flashback , i was after one on ebay a while ago but it cost to much to post to me , i wonder if you connected an alternator from a jeep or a small lorry would it drive it . handy little generator if it did.

That would run an alternator no problem, those little BSA's turned out about 3HP
