Hello all,
Running this forum implies personal cost and considerable time spent, if you find the forum helpful, worth keeping online and in top shape, please consider to
make a donation (Paypal) (http://www.a7a10.net/paypal.htm)
Thanks
(Any Paypal payment related personal information will be kept strictly confidential and will never be used for any purposes whatsoever)
-
I'm in
(English version of Paypal would be nice though) *smiley4*
-
(English version of Paypal would be nice though)
Have done some modifications, should now be in English & usd.
And thanks a lot to those who already made a donation.
-
Erling,
Thanks, again, for your continued hard work at making our forum a great place. I think this is almost a universal opinion. Also, it's about time you sought some support.
Richard L.
-
The link worked for me, worth a small donation for the info available, great forum and I have only been a member for a couple of weeks, well done!
-
Wish to make contribution, link still only in $, any chance one in £
-
I donated $20; that's about 13 UK Pounds today.
-
just realised how long it's been since I donated - time flies right enough, anyway sorted in a small way
-
Done.
-
Thanks *smile* Appreciated
-
Oooo pricked the conscience!
Feel better now.

-
...in just two days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday
seems more like yesterday was a couple of years since *conf*
-
Thanks for the reminder Richard. (All too easy to enjoy the resource whilst forgetting the work that goes into the back end).
-
As we all get older and Alzheimer slowly creeps in, this little reminder... *whistle*
Now where did I leave that credit card again...? *doubt*
*beer*
-
Bump
Just a reminder *smile*
Cheers
-
will get to it but having some problem with PP, changed Bank and their not very fast at updating account and card details so I'm getting knickers in a twist waiting for code and stuff
-
A big thanks to all who contribute.
The received $ helps pay hosting expenses, keeps everything ad-free, while some years' extras makes re-donation possible, mainly to SMF, helping the makers of the (excellent & free) forum software to pay costs & continue development & provide support.
-
G'day Fellas.
Just a bump to remind members tis the season to be jolly and help the boss cover costs.
Cheers
-
I have a standing order for a modest sum every month. I hope it is enough. Please DM me to discuss it if it's too little.
-
Small donation made, thanks to all who help keep this forum going
-
...that was easy! I wish it was as easy to get money coming in!
-
Done!
-
G'day Fellas.
That time of year again.
Cheers
-
Thank you for a top forum. *clap*
-
Yes, everyone wants anything\everything on the web to be free.
In contrast to f.ex. the 'free' apps on your mobile phone which gets paid for in mountains of money by stealing and reselling all your personal information and details of your daily life, this website\forum generates ...nothing, except personal expenses and considerable amounts of time spent to maintain it.
Donations are disheartingly lacking, getting rarer, sparser and scarser as the years go by (...in complete contrast to the growth of the number of members\visitors).
But to those who contribute, a big thanks!
-
Yep, done.
-
I have a monthly standing order running. It's not very much but I hope it helps.
Please think about how amazingly valuable this free and advert free forum is to you and others.
The massive amount of information here is encyclopedic; it must be kept for the foreseeable future.
-
G'day Fellas.
Agree with GB 100%.
Even after 14 years here I still learn something every day.
Small donation made. (out of work at the moment)
Cheers
-
Tried to donate with credit card but nothing happened when I hit the button ?
-
I would be happy to donate but I am just wondering how much we'd all have to chip in a year if everyone was asked to pay a membership fee to maintain access? It would most likely be a very nominal amount and I'm sure the majority of us would see excellent value in it.
To me it seems fairer that we all pay a very small amount than just a magnanimous few carrying the load? Like insurance but much cheaper!
-
That's one way of looking at it of course. Personally I think it's best to leave it as a voluntary payment. If there are a few freeloaders on the forum so be it. They are around aren't they, but I very much doubt we have many 'active' contributors like that. Everyone can kick in what they think is a fair thing. The non-active people who just 'dip-in' now and again can have the freebie and enjoy the absolutely scintillating conversation.
I sometimes have a quick dekko at other forums (apart from my regular 1/2 dozen), just for a little look, perhaps to clarify something simple, but wouldn't 'join up' because I may only spend 10 minutes on it in a year.
Just IMHO.
-
Been on this forum for a bit but never seen this request before, better late than never, all done now and a big thanks to all those who keep the site running.
-
G'day Ian.
On the "books" we have 1264 members but a lot haven't been seen for years. In the last 12 hours there has been 52 members and 188 visitors. On average we get 200 new members a year. I have no idea how much it costs to keep us afloat. I just throw in what I can ( I haven't had any income for 3 months!). If your a pensioner $10 ia a lot, if you earn $2K a week a "Jolly Green Giant" ($100) or two is nothing.
Jools got in while I was typing and agree with him.
G'day Shark.
One of the old timers usually throws a reminder out around New Years.
Any donation is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Seems very sensible but it would be a shame to deter newcomers who may not recognise the value of membership.
Admin, would it be possible to show a message asking for donations when someone logs on? Wikipedia do that. It would be annoying if it happened constantly but maybe once in a while.
-
There we go, did my bit for now. Happy to do something for the site as it has since the help here is tremendous.
I administer a classic motorcycle forum here and funding questions are hard to figure out sometimes so for the most part I have kept everything paid up but I won't live forever.

Thanks to all, things looking brighter in the web-bills dept., also now got something to send to the others who work for free making the forum possible (f.ex. the developpers of the SMF forum software, makers of different web admin tools etc) :O)
-
Donation made, thanks to all who contribute.
-
I've just upped my monthly standing order to $3. That's about 30 Sterling per year. Well worth it too!
-
Just sent a few $
-
Sorted a few quids, hell it would cost more for a yearly subscription for an MCN and i wouldnt get any help with info when i need it nor would i get free workshop manuals and parts books so Thanks happy to do it.
-
Done *wink2*
-
Thanks to all who provided something and anything. It'a a big help, both for the forum's basic costs keeping it online, and for my positivity regarding the work of trying to provide the best, most usefull, most helpful forum experience.
As mentionned, any eventual extra funds, after the foum basics are covered, gets 're-paypall'ed' to worthy causes closely related to the existence and running of the forum (all freely (hoping for donations) providing services and programs like the forum software itself, the developpers of webtools used to set up, to maintain, to modify, to make safety backups etc).
-
Hello, running a free, no adverts forum with high quality hosting \ speed \ reliability \ great up-time implies non-avoidable, regular expenses, in money and time. The donations has been varying each year, from good - adequate - minimal.
But for a good while now, next to nothing... (apart from Greaybeard's monthly 3 usd, thanks for that).
I would feel greatful (and inspired to continue working) if those getting satisfaction and help from the forum would consider a little paypal contribution now and then. But I understand, one gets very used to 'much\all is free on the net'. As it stays right now, it's kept online mainly due to my personal contributions. This in addition to the time and work needed to keep it all in top shape technically, and to ensure the forum stays a high quality resource covering our members's hobbies and interests in the best and most satisfying way possible.
Thanks for reading.
-
Yep, will contribute of course (My problem is I can never remember when I last donated).
Can I suggest including a link to the paypal account when it's mentioned, (just saves searching - gooder for us with worser braincells!)
-
Yes folks, please recognise how good this forum is. A monthly standing order makes it affordable to donate and you do not need to remember when you last gave.
-
G'day Fellas.
I know it's hard in these financially difficult times but please spare a few beer tickets to keep the best forum on the planet going and add free.
I have no idea how much it costs to run and I hope my yearly US $20 helps. We have about 1300 members, just $1 each should cover it.
I'll try to remember to "bump" this thread every month or so.
Cheers

I don't have paypal - is there an alternative way to contribute i.e. bank transfer. credit card ?
-
i used to donate from paypal but find it impossible to transfer money from my bank into the paypal. it must be ME *pull hair out* *help* i will ask a mate to help me out with shifting a bit of money, unless as Roger says we can do it by bank transfer? I'M BACK i think i've managed it *yeah*
-
Thanks for the received $'s, highly appreciated, helps taking care of hosting bills, and any eventual extras will go to the organizations listed on the forum's Paypal page (link in 1st post of this topic).
Paypal only, anyone not having an account there are exonerated :O)
PS, out of the number of members (+ the many 100's of visitors\readers): around 10 to 15 donations\year.
-
Another donation from the Australian side. Pleased to help.

Donation made - money well spent

Yup. *thanks*
-
Thanks for the contributions, the forum bills are paid for this year. And even some on top, going where it matters.
-

-
Dear Erling,
as I also wrote in my PayPal note to you, I would like to thank you very much for this beautiful BSA A7-A10-Forum. Without it, my GF would not be in that stage as it is now. I assume, it still would be in non roadworthy condition. You have brought together so many, many good guys and experts from all over the world sharing their knowledge to us newbies. This forum is an invaluable source of information and full of hints and tips, optimizations, modification advises, etc., etc. Always 100% support and good discussions. Top !
And above all that: the members are always friendly and they have the right sense of humour - although some restoration steps provide a step back ... the members of this forum help each other to go forward with the work on the A7/A10s.
Thank you Erling. I do not know, when you started this forum but I hope, you are willing to run it for many years to come.
Best regards, Manfred
-
I'm sure everyone here will agree with your excellent post👌

G'day Fellas.
Just did my yearly contribution early. If you can just click on the link above.

i am well proud of myself i navigated paypal without messing up I THINK
-
I get the following message when I try to donate "Donations to this recipient aren't supported in this country" I'm in NZ
-
^^^ Thanks for trying *smile*
Strange, it's not a transfer to Syria or a Califate! Conatct Paypal and ask why a normal country like Norway (and a normal recipient) not in their allowed NZ list? Works fine otherwise, f.ex. just received a donation from Australia.
-
Done!
-
i got the same thing about donations not allow from NZ. tho i think i've managed before and paypal loves to take my money for other things. do post when fixed
cheers
Edit: also tried via a vpn to aus, but no luck as requires a country address for the card to validate. I assume its a setting in your paypal account Erling
-
Done this morning, works fine from UK.
-
Same here. *thanks*
-
well nothing new here i didn't manage to navigate pay pal because i'm thick me, but now sorted, *yeah*
-
Very happy to help. In a world of utter madness, this forum is an enclave of decency, generosity, and good humour. Long may it continue.
-
^^^ Thanks for that CheeserBeezer !
The Paypal link on the donation page (https://www.a7a10.net/paypal.htm) is changed\updated. Everything should maybe work now ? (refering to some problems from NZ). We'll see on next NZ donation attempt. If still not ok, please send a PM and I'll arrange for an alternative until fixed. Fingers crossed.
And thanks to those who already contributed, big help + enticement to keep the forum going and in good shape.
btw, the forum was launched in March 2006, around 25 members around May\June.
-
still no luck from nz. i'll send a screenshot
-
^^^ Thanks for testing. So NZ not allowed to donate but allowed to do payments\transfers to same account (tested and working). Strange.
If anyone gets the PP donation error, please send a PM to get info about doing a transfer.
-
i bet i upset the system sending 0 . 18 $s *lol* *lol* *bash*
-
^^^ Berger, you broke Paypal *smile*, 27 million PP accounts were emptied with the money sent to Afghanistan, and the NZ donation problem appeared...
"This is Tiril from PayPal! I heard back from my internal department, and it seems like we would need the sender of the donations to reach out to PayPal support. There is no issue at your side at all, and we would need a look at their accounts in order to get to the bottom of this."
Anyone from NZ to do this ? A positive, Paypal was quite easy to contact (chat) and quickly looked at the case \ replied.
Thanks
-
Seems to be working fine from Aus.
Happy Christmas everyone, peace and prosperity to all our forum friends *good3*
-
This year's 're-donation' from the forum done, to a very worthy instance.
& thanks to everyone who contribute(d), big help in covering server expenses etc, and in keeping the forum in top shape.
-
G'day Fellas.
That time of year when I help the boss out. How about you?
Cheers
-
here's the link: http://www.a7a10.net/paypal.htm (http://www.a7a10.net/paypal.htm)
BUT
in NZ it says, again, "Donations to this recipient aren't supported in this country"
???
(time to move to stripe instead of elon musk and peter theil's criminal enterprise?)
-
Just donated. Thanks for a great forum and all the best for the New Year.
-
Just donated. Thanks for everything you do to keep the forum going and keeping us on our best behaviour!

-
I set up a standing order that dribbles a small monthly amount towards the running of this fabulous forum - thank you to everyone involved in running it👍
See my next post ↓
-
booohoooo nobody likes my christmas puddy and he's not pleased because he is very old old old and deaf and now poor puddy screams out because he doesn't know how loud he is , give old puddy a like so i can show him before he goes to puddy heaven, he's not even eating now he just goes to sleep and wakes me up at least 4 times a night between 1am and 8am scweeming his head off and i have to cuddle him and give him more love , now i am a tired berger who loves his pussy *sad2*
-
Thanks to those who made a contribution, much appreciated. Always an 'incitement' to spend time keeping the place running and in good shape.
Through the years the number of annual donnations is around 10 to 15, so be sure I am not living off the forum. Some years it goes into positive amounts, and some worthy institutions receives a little help from the collected extras.
Generally, with the advent of all the new ways of internet communication that have appeared over the years, most forums sees a decline in activity and posts, same here. But what matters is the quality of posts and the friendly atmosphere, which are both intact and present. And many non-members come here regularly to gather information and guidance by reading all the great and detailed topics accumulated over time (soon 20 years !?!).
-
Donation made by credit card - more than happy to contribute to this Forum.
-
After smugly saying that I had a regular payment going from my account to the forum I thought I'd better check that it was still actually being paid. I could find no such arrangement on my bank or PayPal screens!!! I profusely apologise for misleading you all. I have now set up a monthly order from Paypal to the forum.

Just a Senior moment GB - happens all the time ! *smile*
I'm sure that I had it set up a few years ago but it seems to have stopped.
