Hi all,
Just changed the oil after the running in period. I now have leak from the sump plate, it seems to be coming out a couple of the studs. Would fibre washers under the steel washers cure this? Its a bit annoying as it wasn't leaking before. I fitted new gaskets with some goo on them.

It might do, but if you are going to undo the mounting bolts, you might as well reseal the whole plate. The SRM sump plates with drain plug makes a very nice and useful mod if the problem persists.

Oil probably leaking between gasket and stud. I have recently fitted a new sump plate with magnetic drain plug supplied by C&D and just used high melting point grease between both sides of the 2 gaskets with no oil leak. I also used spring washers under the allen set screws. Suggest you go this route.

The stud holes go all the way through your crankcases.
When the studs are fully home the tapper where the thread stops seals against the cases so there is no leak.
When you take the sump off, oft the studs turn a little so oil can leak down the thread.
Take the sump off again and drive all of the studs fully home into the cases then use a nice new gasket and you joint should be oil tight.

...some Loctite thread sealant or thread lock helps as well to make them oil-tight and keep them in place when undoing the nuts.

Thanks for all your replies, I will take it all off and check the studs are fully home and use some thread sealant . I might get a new sump plate with the drain plug as the bike tends to sump now and again

And if you do look for the deeper ones that have the drain plug in the side.
Fit it with the drain plug pointing to the left.
This will have the fins running the wrong way but will allow you to drain the sump with the bike on the side stand and without ending up with oil all over the bike, the rear tyre and the shed floor
