Well, there is this: http://www.mafcobell.co.uk/   (a.k.a. M&F Components). They've been around since 1946, so maybe they changed from motorcycle service to parts along the way.

No idea about M&F, but am admiring the engine condition, looks like new straight from the factory!

Not to hijack your topic but started looking for stamps, is this (see pic) a production date inside the primary?

I'd say so e. My '51 has a stamp in the same spot 17-8-50 and an X where the MF in question is. My newly acquired '64 A65 has CF stamped on the inner timing cover. Would guess that they are inspection signatures.
Cheers

   Nick,
I suspect that they are inspection marks.

But Trev, if they were inspection marks, wouldn't some of our bikes have identical or similar markings in the same place? Mine doesn't. If they were for inspection, for example, for "Machining and Finish" of the cases, you'd think there would be identical. If they were for "Mike and Frank", you'd think there was a "Dickie and Tom".

The alloy parts on my Shooting Star are all stamped "SS" and with a funny symbol (The mechanic formerly known as Prince?)  *dunno*

Hi MG
I have a friend who was a biker from the 60s.  He marked all of his pieces with his name, he used this as a thief prevention.  I have a named rocker box.  Jeff

Richard L,
Swinging arm crankcases all seem to have "F'" stamped on the camshaft tunnel until about 1962 when a circular mark was used.
I have seen some with no marks, possibly polished or ground off, and some with names etc.
   Trev.
