looking to swap out the ball and races in the steering head of my rigid frame
is there a part number ...for the bearing??
also any help or advice as to straightening a frame...i have all the tubes real straight...and i think the rest should be ok...
how to align the head and rear axle slot...??

And it also looks like the SRM set is for swing arm frames only. All I can suggest is that you email them to find out. Definately a worthwhile fit and forget mod though.
This what SRM say about their bearing set. "Fits all A7 A10 B33 B31 Gold Star A50 A65 up to 1970 , gives positive steering and improved handling, taper bearings are superior to other types of bearings for the steering head". That is a bit ambigous given that they say for swing arm models. And although there is no mention of rigid frames and they do say Fits all A7 A10 B33 B31 Gold Star A50 A65 up to 1979 so it is not entirly clear what they do and do not fit.

HI i've fitted the George Prew tapered rollers to my S/W arm model ,they are excellent, fitted a dream, that was over 6 yrs ago and still fine , I also like SRM, I'd give either one of these 2 companies a call to discuss as they are both very helpful and good quality (pos george a little cheaper) ,also consider georges fork damper kit like the eddie dow version transformed my forks and ride ,obviously if the piggy banks not empty , worthwhile upgrade I found, regards BobH.

i reckon the shipping would be more than the price of the bearings..
so i,ll do a this way and that and head down to the local bearing and pulley and see what kind of a match i can get...
are there any posts..threads...tech sheets on frame straightening...or alignment...???

My two penny worth....
I recall from somewhere in the not to distant past that the taper roller headrace bearings are a real stupid size and that SRM etc have to commision bearings ground down to that size. Ergo they are not available of the shelf from usual bearing suppliers.
I am prepared to be wrong but measure carefully before committing.
(Aren't the yokes the same size between plunger and S/A, with only minor differences over they years re. steering lock and handlebar clamp spacing? If so then headraces probably the same)

i am sure the bearings are and odd size...i reckon the bigger problem is the height...see what come up...
my frame is a rigid...the one piece that doesnt have the plunger centre stand .... mine has the lugs under for the hinge type centrestand
as far as fork trees go... i have a bucket fulll.."of no idea what they came off"...

Hey guys, NOT looking to convert to taper roller bearing in my A7 steering head. The existing ball races are in very good shape. One problem, the upper and lower inner races are different from each other. One has a thicker lip than the other. I suppose I solved this riddle about 16 years ago when assembing the A10, but I've forgotten which is which. Anyone know off the top of your head? In the parts book it looks like the upper might be thicker, but it's not 100% clear.
