Title: Head steady fixing
Post by: sprint on 07.06. 2013 20:54
Should there be 5/16" washers between the head steady brks and the rocker box cover?

Looking at the various exploded diagrams it seems to show washers then the brks with another washer on top (spring?) then the nut?

Without any washers the brks are hard up against the cover.

Yes, I stick them on the bracket with silicon to make life easy.

Whenever the topic of "Head Steady" or leaking rocker-box gaskets comes up, it reminds me that I need to make one like that designed by John (chaterlea25) as shown here: http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=2912.msg19633#msg19633 . Absolutely worth considering. Also, Muskrat has posted a photo in that thread that bears some consideration (or is it "bares" some consideration).
