Title: Indian Tank
Post by: jfligg on 03.09. 2013 01:04
Hello
I was wondering if anyone knows what the bolt size is that holds the badges on, and the bracket for the knee pads on a indian made BSA A10 tank. Thanks Jeff

Going by the new B31 tank we got they just use any old thread. I forget what we ended up with. Not standard anyway . Try metric or unf.

I think I've decided they originally (mine at least) are Cycle thread (BSC), 1/4" for knee pads, and 5/32" for the badges. 5/32 BSC is same pitch as WW (32 TPI), but thread form is 55˚(BSW) instead of 60˚(BSC). Bought some SS ones at the boat shop but haven't yet used 'em.

I installed an Indian tank a couple of months ago. Definitely BSC for the knee grips. Had to re-drill the holes in the grips about 1/2 inch lower because the holes sat to low in the tank (Indian quality *sad2*)
Tank strap studs however are UNF. Tank badge goes on with a clip.

After posting noticed that you are probably talking about a later model. Mine's the round badge type. Hope this explanation will be of help anyway.
