Hi

Getting the gearbox parts together from aa heap of parts. The clutch thrust washer is missing. Any idea what the dimensions are for this. It's a split washer. Thanks

Hi Anj, you mean the thrust washer 67-3276/7/8 or the retaining collets/split rings/circlips that don't appear to be  listed in the parts books..?
  If you mean the collets, I think they're likely easy to make, or available from places like dragAnfly.....I bought some on eBay once but they never turned up

They wouldn't be too hard to make. Measure the width and depth of the groove in the shaft. They look to be a square section. Turn up a solid ring then cut in half.

I think that they are hardened.

I wasn't sure Trev, but I think you are right. Although nothing spins on them they are taking the load of the nut torque (< that sounds like me).
Heat treating a set made from an old car axle might work.

Hi

Just put together the bits & pieces of the gearbox that came with the dismantled bike & find end float on both the main & lay shafts. Parts all seem to be there but the float is definitely more than on my 1952 Flash. Any ideas on how to proceed. Where do I fit the shims in case that is the way out

G'day Anji.
Are you sure you fitted #87 on the layshaft, and #101 & 102 on the mainshaft?
#'s 84 & 88 bushes may be worn on the thrust faces.
