Title: Clear finish required
Post by: orabanda on 21.12. 2008 09:55
Hi fellow forumites,
Can anyone suggest a spray-on finish that is petrol resistant?

I am going to bead blast the copper pipe that links the LH and RH petrol taps on my plunger A10, and would like to prevent the assembly from tarnishing afterwards. Is there a product available?

Regards,

Richard

ps Xmas joke:

Billy: Mummy, can I please have a dog for Christmas?

Mum: Why can't you have turkey like everyone else?

I think you would have to use a 2 pak clear Richard. I dont think anything else would stand up to the fuel.

Richard, check out POR 15. I think they make a clear coat for polished metal.

Surely Richard with the amount of brass/copper there is to clean, it would not take many mins to polish it up. I also cheated this way on some military brassess many years ago and they were just not the same as having treated with elbow grease. Even oxidised non ferrous looks good.

LJ,
Trouble is, I've got too many bikes that need polishing!

Seroiusly, Trev's suggestion of POR 15 was good. They have a 2 pack product, which I have ordered.
Watch this space!

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Richard

hey guys, i 2nd or 3rd? that suggestion for the clear coats from POR15 !! great stuff, extremely tough. Try Pelucid, or even better Glisten PC. It bonds to polished metals, hammer tough and petrol/acid/solvent resistant. Also UV cool. cheers Guybo.
