Title: 50 yrswith a bike licence
Post by: Topdad on 25.01. 2016 11:23
Well my friends today is my 66th birthday and it was 50 yrs ago that I first rode a motorbike ( legally ) on the road .On this date 1966 about dinnertime  ( what a year ) I took my '53 plunger A10 outfit for its mot which it passed, on the way back I remember thinking the power was fantastic  *smile* only to be brought down to earth by cocking up my first sharp left hander into the garage where she lived ! Very nearly planted her and me into a brick gatepost ,just missed it and managed a lap in the carpark with the sidecar wheel in the air so learnt something as well but could have been soooo different  *red* *red*
The fact I haven't lost my licence in the following years ( got damn close twice ) still slightly surprises me. Bob

Hi Bob,

best wishes form Germany *beer*

Oh yes I remember my first experiences with a combiation.
Completly different as a solo bike. Hit the sidewalk with the sidacar wheel. I will never forget the big eyes from the oncomming driver  *eek*
They may be the same as mine but fortunately nothing bad will happen.

cheers Klaus

Bob,

Have a great Birthday. You'll be glad to know you're a bit younger than me. In '66 I was hauling band gear around in a VW Squareback Sedan and planning a rebuild of a '31 Model A Ford.

Happy Birthday Bob.
Having had a couple of trips in a side car and owned a Reliant Regal (yes the Del Boy edition but in powder blue) I can testify the secret is Ballast  *smile*

Congratulations from DK -

Being 66 is only a number, as long as you can still swing the kickstart, no worries...

Maybe a big dog in the sidecar would have helped...

BSA build by a Walter and Grommit fanatic - well done!

regards
Joergen
