Title: 1952 plunger A 7
Post by: anjimehra on 19.02. 2016 06:49
Hi
How long should the clutch operating rod be on the A 7 plunger. Iam told it is either 12 ins 0r 11 1/2 ins. Please enlighten
I would probably be using one plate less.
Thanks
Anji

Gday Anji,
The one out of my 52 star twin is 11 1/2 inches long.
It is rounded on one end and flat on the other.
cheers

Hello I measured the one I took out from my 1952 A7 star twin, and it is 11 3/8 inches. One end is just starting to mushroom.
I hope this helps
Cheers Keith

Thanks Olev. I checked the one from my Super Rocket & that measures 11.75 ins, but has 5 friction plates. Iam getting an original rod ( 1/4 in dia ) which is 11 1/2 ins long & will try tat

John,

That is really interesting. It seems to be a physical guage that BSA might have provided to their authorized dealers.

Maybe useless info now, but I had to pull mine out today to do other stuff, and pushrod would've maybe been 11,3/16" (or 11,1/4" close enough to 11.220" as per chart) before I tidied the ends up a while ago- now it measures 11,5/32" (183.5mm).
I'm running four friction plates, and it works fine.
