hi guys, just thought I would put this piece of equipment out to the forum as it is up for auction in NZ on trade me and seems nobody knows what it is, I`m sure the forum can identify it,cheers

Tom cat is dead right. here's the manufacturers response to my question about it:
Hi Gavin

It is an old diaphragm type valve spring tester with a one piece anvil, part number 360000

We have had a look for some information on it, but unfortunately we can't find any.

 It looks like a dead ringer of the one I saw (the infamous?) Alan Chance (Chancie) using one day when I called around- testing valve springs.
