every death a tragedy for those concerned, but young men (and not so young) know all the risks and choose to take them.
Compared to mans ability to engage in war over religion, land , oil and all the other dubious reason to support an arms industry, racing pales in significance

Here, no sharks, but lots of people drown each summer, often after drinking some alcohol, so forbid beer as well.
Thinking further, many more are killed each year in dog attacks than racing, so forbid dogs ! etc...

Living is dangerous.

racing on public roads like the TT is the biggest challenge to man and machine but when a tyre lets go at 180 mph plus on sulby straight between dry stone walls rest in peace*sad2*

Sad but one of our (North East) TT regulars has paid the price

ACU Events Ltd regrets to announce that sidecar driver Ian Bell, 58, from Bedlington, Northumberland was killed following an accident at Ballaspur during today’s Sidecar Race 2 at the Isle of Man TT Races. Ian was competing with his son Carl who was reported to be uninjured.

Ian, a motorcycle dealer, was married to Trudi and had two children. He made his

TT Races debut in 1995, winning the newcomers trophy, and achieved five podiums during his TT career including a race win in 2003
