Title: Aussie road hazards (warning graphic pictures)
Post by: muskrat on 08.06. 2016 11:16
A bloke I know is on his way to Alice Springs. Long straight flat road, pretty boring ride on a new Victory till a roo didn't look left, right and left again. Lucky it was a direct hit and didn't send him down the road at 180KPH. Just a few bruises.
I hit one at 80KPH and broke my shoulder in 13 places.
Cheers

Since I hit my last one a few years ago (tore the bull bar clean out of the chassis of my FJ45 Cruiser)  I fitted roo whistles to all my bikes and cars. Haven't had one jump out at me since.
Wombats on the other hand still hate me.
Cheers

a tad unkind Topdad, he answers but not necessarily with the truth (OK not often with the truth)

I...I fitted roo whistles to all my bikes and cars...
Are they powered by wind as the vehicle moves?

There are quite a few muntjack deer loose in the UK now. They're about the same size as that mangled Roo. They would tend to f**k you up if you hit one on your sickle.

Here in Idaho we have mule deer, elk, moose, black bear, lumber trucks, rock slides and motor homes. Are kangaroo any good to eat?

Yes we eat'em, down here if it has a heart beat we eat it. We'd be the only country to eat out Coat of Arms.
The whistles work once your over 30KPH.
Cheers

One thing I like about chatting on the forum with Brits, Aussies and the rest of you other-than-Americans. No politics to worry about.

I've done one with the Previa at 80+ on the M11, car was fine. Mrs B has done one with a Picanto - tore the front off it, the car that is. They're mostly about the size of a Labrador around these parts so for sure best avoided when out and about on two wheels

I haven't ventured far afield on the Gutzzi for a while, but on various forays around the Sunny Coast and down through the Newell highway at night I never saw a wildlife, and have wondered if it was due to the pulsation of the V-Twin ?

Here it's moose, got no understanding of roads + fast approaching things. Many motorist deaths each year.

I was just telling Topdad the other day how No one in their right mind drives through the country roads at night in Tazzy,,, in the mornings the roads are littered with road kill.
Stupid bl00dy Quorrels ( small Kangaroo type animals) sit in the middle of the roads & get dazzled by car headlights...
If you listen closely you'll hear them saying to each other Dohhh..
what was that splat sound Kevin... Kevin?  are you there Kevin?...   SPLAT..     *whistle*
And NEVER park your convertible with the top down under a gum tree... Drop bears ...   *eek*

We don't eat unicorns in Scotland.

But then we never seem to run any over, anyway.
