i have a 1953 a7 star twin plunger.....after a good run it leaks oil on the drive, about a half a teaspoons worth, i think its coming from the breather pipe ( it faces forward on my bike ) a funny thing is it seems to be worse when on the side stand but not as bad on the main ! my question is if this is normal, can i re route the tube to lube the chain or into some type of collection bottle ?

I don't believe a (small) bit of oil out of a breather is an issue. On my ZB my timing cover breather is routed back into the oil tank overflow (a T piece so the tank still breaths).
On my race engine I run catch bottles and they do collect oil.
The normal A10 breather (on the swing arm motors) is a timed hole on the drive side cases by the cam end which will flow more if on the sidestand. Just trying to think where a plunger breather feeds from...

I didnt build this particular engine but have paperwork from the previous owner that SRM built it in 1988 ! its done less than 100 miles since then as the previous owner took ill.....ive done over 1000 miles in the past 6 months and noticed the oil drip.
My other a7 is oil tight although its a '61 swing arm, the pipe in question is hidden behind the primary chaincase so i cant see where it starts but its attached to the frame with a p clip at the front LHS of the bike .
Im liking the idea of joining the two pipes via a T section tough

Not quite sure about this *dunno2*, can't even say where they normally run to, but I run mine into an old juice bottle that also collects any blow off from the oil tank and places I've forgotten about- doesn't seem to catch much
Maybe when you park up try leaning it on something to the RHS for a bit to let it run back through the cam.

Unless my medication (None) is playing up *smile*, it's the same as all...either that or put a drip tray under
