Title: Link to bike in signature
Post by: Greybeard on 01.10. 2016 12:41
I've often wished that when I click on a forum members avatar I could see a picture of their chosen motorcycle. I figured out how to do this in my own signature so when you click on the text you get to see a picture of my pride and joy.

I've now found a way to show you the contents of the link. Just remove the spaces that I've made inside the square brackets.

[ size=3 ][ iurl=https://goo.gl/PjdqDt ][ u ][ i ]Proud owner of a 1955 Plunger Golden Flash

You need to go to Forum Profile to add this link to your signature. After it's been saved to your signature, when it's clicked it will go to the URL hidden in the link

Proud owner of a 1955 Plunger Golden Flash (https://goo.gl/PjdqDt)

PS. Obviously use your own image URL and title text

Just tried 3 times but didn't work. I'm doing something wrong. I'll try to add links to this to see if they work Cheers

remove all spaces inside the square brackets.

Got it working  *smile* but further experiments made a mess with the wiki links bleeding over to next line *smile*

Fixed, had deleted a [/iurl]  *smile*

I noticed that my effort does not turn off formatting so any text below the link will have the same attributes. May need to add etc.

Building on your experience and testing further, this line seems to end the coding and allow for normal text after the link.
[iurl=http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/BSAGoldenFlash.htm]My A10 website[/iurl]

Example 2, the very basic, no italic and no text formatting
[iurl=http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/BSAGoldenFlash.htm]My A10 website[/iurl]

And did some more digging\learning, see attachment for how to publish a code line for demonstration purposes without it getting activated, code tag in front and at end.

I need to test this but it may be that links are automatically shown underlined, hence the link seems to be double underlined. The tag [ u ], (minus the spaces) may not be required.

^^^ Good find, the
[u]
and if one does not want italic

can go :O)

And thanks Greybeard for bringing up the good idea. If no online photos or website, one may link to ones presentation post on the forum.

one more tip
[ iurl=http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/BSAGoldenFlash.htm]My A10 website[ /iurl] will open in the same window.
[ url=http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/BSAGoldenFlash.htm]My A10 website[ /url] will open in a new window/tab, so the forum page remains open

(that is: [ iurl] vs [ url] - don't forget to remove the spaces after the square brackets in the links above).

these also work in forum posts (http://imgur.com/F3dUgh1)
