Are you talking about replacing the Alloy 56/57 type hub or the iron 58 on iron 7" full width hubs with which 8" brake?
While only two were used on the A7/10 BSA had at least four 7" front brakes in the fifties and likewise several 8" front brakes (half and full width).
If you can clarify which year/type brakes/forks that might help *dunno* as there are many variations if we include other BSA models

Is the 7 inch brake that is used with your forks? It does as you say use a boss on the brake plate to engage with a lug on the fork leg? It is used on plunger and rigid models (I think).

Hi Nimrod,
with the standard fork legs for 8in s/side brake getting hard to find people are using the earlier ones but the spindle has a smaller thread than the 11/16ths
The spindle for the 8in. single sided hub is a stepped item
A top hat shaped shouldered spacer is fitted through the RH bearing from the inside
The spindle step pushes the sleeve trough the bearing and brake plate and into the fork leg
The spindle thread is 9/16 x 20 Left hand and it threads into the right side fork leg
